Nakamichi is a good name but even they've stooped to advertising trickery. Almost all the brands are doing it but I expected better from Nakamichi. It says in many places says it supports 1080p which is great, a especially for a screen this small, but saying it supports 1080p just means is it can play a video thats been encoded at a 1080 resolution. The native resolution of the screen is actually WVGA which is only 800 × 480. And all videos no matter how high of a resolution its encoded at will play at a maximum resolution of 800 x 480. Now that might be acceptable for most for video playback but its still only just OK. 1080 video looks so much better. Small text on a WVGA screen? forget about reading that. not because of the small screen size but because the text will be blurry & not legible unless the font is very large. At 89 bucks, its still a good deal, I just wish they wouldn't stoop to the advertising tricks that all the lesser names use.

Nakamichi was a good name until Niro Nakamichi left in 1998 after the company was acquired by Grande Holdings, a Chinese company based in Hong Kong.

Nakamichi used to be a great name in Audio cassette players, nothing else. then they went bankrupt and sold to a Chinese company. It was never a good brand item outside of cassette players. What's a cassette tape?

They're going really well in the Home Audio space though. I think Nakamichi is coming back to the limelight pretty famously through home cinema, their soundbars have been decent and recently their Nakamichi Dragon Soundbar has been game changer and is basically the Rolls Royce of soundbars right now.

I jumped on the deal before when it was $100 on woot.
I should also mention the low resolution screen and the android Auto is wired.
I was able to install it myself with the Honda Fit adapter wire bundle I already had.
Android Auto worked with my Google Pixel 7 pro.
It has a remote which I have not tested.
The boot takes a couple of seconds, which is a bit annoying, but OK for this price.
The sound volume settings don't preserve after turning off the engine, not sure if one of the wire connections in the bundle is not solid?

Yes, I noticed the blurriness during Navigation with small fonts. You would think a WVGA screen would be more expensive than HD at this day and age. They probably cheaped out on the display chip rather than the display.

humm, new but 90 day warranty. I guess these are grey market or b-stock at best. The unit came out over 10 years ago so could be really old stock
Agree that with this brand its nothing but re-branded generic Chinese headunit and you usually have to pay a ton for a harness to control steering wheel buttons and rear camera

I have no experience with this brand, but beware the "great SD" the has no reviews or known brand. Spend a little more.

I wasted a year+ of suffering with a $100 SD Dual from walmart. It would disconnects and reset itself. Ahh the fun of trying different cables to stop this. (android).

I finally tried ATOTO for maybe $30 more. So good i put in my 2 old cars, one was refub to save $.

1- The ATOTO boots quicker than my old walmart Dual, only few seconds but big when want to turn key and go.
2- After 2yrs almost, very rare reboot. Less than 5 and doesn't forget settings.
3- Wireless android auto and Apple carplay...easily worth the extra $30-$50
4- Backup camera is avail almost right at key turn.

Neg is audio quality and volume isn't as good as more expensive atoto models or other brands.

I bought this during the last Woot deal for $90. I put it in my 15 year old Subaru WRX and it has been great over the last couple of months. As long as you don't expect a world class audio experience from it, it definitely brings life to an old rig. Wired CarPlay is nice, screen is as responsive as the factory unit in our 2020 forester. My only complaint is the wiring harness uses really thin wiring, and there is a boot screen for a few seconds when you start the car. I would definitely buy this again if I had another vehicle that needed a cheap CarPlay receiver.

The standard in Car Audio power wiring, your yellow wire will always be constant power and red will be powered when ignition is on only, so double check you yellow wire.

I've never replaced a car deck stereo before, and my car has a non-standard system, so it would be a pain to change and rewire, etc for me and probably more costly than I'm willing to spend. I just went with one of these external CarPlay / Android Auto displays which works great for me. This one as like $30-$40 when I got it in November, works Wired and Wireless.

This unit has nothing to do with the actual original Nakamichi. Chinese purchased the name long time ago and slap it on extremely cheap products now. Nothing is wrong with basic in-dash chinese Android, but don't kid yourself, it can as well be called HuyVChae.

I got this 6 months ago. The screen is sad but since I purchased this for $230 back then hence this is a steal. It works fine otherwise

It was a great name until the top of their tower was blown off in the first Die Hard movie.
