Ok, Slickdealers. I depend on you all to tell me why not to buy something. What are the cons of this bad boy? I'm looking for a battery powered blower that can hold it's weight against a gas powered unit

They are recalling battery powered snowblowers because they can't hold a charge

The cons are no battery powered unit despite whatever they claim can hold up against a gas unit in wet snow. $1300 you can get a nice gas unit that will outperform this thing by alot.

Are you speaking from personal experience with this model or are you basing that on other units?

I have the Ego single stage. It performed as well or better than my gas-powered single stage. Prior to making the switch to battery, so many people said it wouldn't work. Need to stick with gas. Turns out they were dead wrong. I do have a gas powered dual stage but rarely use it. And when I do need to bust it out it is usually when the snow is really wet and/or I get plowed in. And even then, my dual-stage gas struggles with that scenario.
We average 50" of snow a year, but have had over 100" numerous times. Not the most in the country or anything but still significant.
Long story short - go search YouTube and see videos of the blower working. I'm willing to bet that this will work just fine for 99% of people.
This looks like a pretty good price for this unit! I bet those two batteries won't last too terribly long, but if that charger is the same speed as my current GW 80V charger, they top off in about 30 minutes. Ultimately, if you're out there for too long, a nice 30m break inside isn't so bad.
I just hope this is more reliable than the GW single stage snowblower. I had 4 of them and every single one was defective. I gave up on GW snowblowers with those, but this thing gets some pretty great reviews!

I have a Honda single stage gas blower and it's great. But if I had to buy again , I would get a two stage. Job is much quicker using 2 stage with heavy snow.

It's like everything battery - but particularly larger items, typically lacks power and runtime. Whether or not this will work for you depends on your situation - do you just need to do 20 feet of 6" snow on a walkway, or are you looking to do 2 feet on a 500 foot driveway?
If you need longer runtime, well then you're either waiting for batteries to charge or buying more just to have in case. The real con here is that $1300 will get you a really nice 2 stage unit that will run forever if you keep feeding it gas. Not the cheapest, literally the first google hit @ Home Depot:
I'm not against battery powered items - heck I have battery string trimmer, hedge trimmer and 2 blowers, but they are capable for what I need them for, and I acknowledge their drawbacks. I wouldn't anticipate or buy a handheld leaf blower to do my leaves in the fall - it;'s just not the right tool for the job, but they work great for blowing out the garage and blowing off patios and decks, a lot more convenient than a backpack gas blower in that situation.

You're not factoring in the total wattage of the motors at the wheel and auger. Cant find info on that but from my experience of 80v 2 stage blowers (OG snowjoe), they can last about 20 minutes or so depending on the conditions. This does come with 2 batteries at 4.0ah each so you might get a bit more out of it.
For the batteries that you get out of this, I would say this is still an ok deal if you want to get into this type of tool. The 4ah batteries are the smaller size so they would be great to use on chainsaws and trimmers.
Personally, I would like to see this as a tool only. Most that are interested in this are already invested in the GW ecosystem and don't need more batteries. At 700 as a tool only, I would consider it.

I would buy if you're in the Greenworks world. I have a few 80v batteries and for my lawnmower front/back/sides with half the other battery leftover.
I went with a Toro though last year as the price point for the Greenworks was about $1800~ and the Toro was on sale for about $1200. Real-life application of it is about 20-24 car spaces in a lot. They advertise 27. That's damn good to me.
At this price point...get this. Do not let folks dissuade you. This is a damn good deal if you're in the Greenworks family, especially as the auger looks very solid.

Thanks for the thoughts. Unfortunately I hemmed and hawed too long. Came back Thursday to buy and the price was up $500. Dang it.
