I have the Traeger Meater Block for my smoker. Is there any reason to get this for my grill, or does it make more sense to use the Meater for both? Thanks!

I put my meater in my grill and it yelled at me for being too hot. I'm not sure what the max temp is for these things.

Did you try standing further away to make sure you weren't setting it off?

If using with a smoker I'd invest in a wireless thermometer that has wifi capability, otherwise you're tethered to your smoker. Stear clear of the meater block though...

I got one for Christmas. Full battery didn't even survive the 1st cook. It also didnt stay connected unless my phone's screen stayed on. Do yourself a favor and buy something else.

It works. You need to remove battery from it after cooking because it drained on mine. Connection is fine. $50?? Nah man. But I got mine free with a genesis purchase when lowes actually had decent clearance grills.

Seems overpriced even on clearance. I got one that supports 6 probes at once (and comes with them), is bluetooth, rechargeable and has a decent app for $42. Or am I missing some function here that this has with certain grills?

I bought one of these years ago, before Weber bought the company. The range is about what you'd expect for Bluetooth. From my smoker in the back yard, I have to keep my phone or iPad on my kitchen window for a good signal, about 30 ft away. My house is brick so that might explain why I can't get much farther. Over the years, I've replaced a couple of the thermocouples that went bad with generic ones from Amazon. Weber messed up the app when the first bought the company but they've since fixed it and it does everything I want, audible alarms based on temperature and good trends of the temperatures. Another poster said they had battery issues but I've never had a problem getting through multiple 15+ hour cooks.

I would recommend at this price.
