I've had an alert set up for this for 6 months and this is the first hit. I pulled the trigger at this price.

Seems like a good price after searching recent price history here and referencing camels.

Over 3 years ago, this tool was HD hackable down below $100, but I think those prices are long gone.

Does anyone else have any info on this price? I'm already sold on the tool and will start a project in 3-7 months that will require this tool and can wait for a better deal if there is one on the horizon...

I bit. It's been on my list for a while and rarely goes on sale, price seems about as good as it gets.

Yes, it's a good price for new and boxed from an authorized DeWalt dealer. You could save a little bit if you are willing to take a customer return from Amazon Warehouse (see the Save with Used, or the New & Used links). I went with that option and paid $140 back in 2022. I wouldn't anticipating a "Save with Used" option being below $130 though, even if you wait a few months.

I don't use this often but it's awesome when I do. Be sure to buy and use the vacuum attachment as this thing will make chips. In fact the only complaint I have about this tool is the chip chute and vacuum attachment are too small any occasionally clog.

One of my absolute favorite woodworking tools - I don't use it all the time, but when I need it, it is fantastic!

Thanks for catching this, 156 is good enough...Bought into it, been eye balling it for some time...now if only a hackable deal for the barrel handle XR jig saw would pop up at HD & a killer deal for the 12v 5 in 1 & I'd have the last few tools to invest into

I dont recall this ever being hackable. Maybe has to do with my area…

No, it's not a unique tool and nothing super special about it.
Even if it was better (and/or slightly cheaper for that matter) than Ryobi(can't say if it actually is either way), most people aren't using this very often. You would have to get at least one battery and charger to support this tool that gets used infrequently...

Is this the kind of planer that is used to make a slab of wood flat , for a coffee table? I would think not, since each pass would produce different depths since the slab is uneven to begin with. Or am I wrong?

Nice spot. I've had this and the Milwaukee equivalent on a Home Depot list for months, and they're some of the only items I have saved that don't seem to go on sale or special ever. Pretty decent discount for a tool normally priced either $229/$249 (HD/Amz)
