has only 70 feedback ratings in the last year and 565 total. well below SD minimums but the rules don't apply to Paid SD Staff Influencers. an actual community member wouldn't have been allowed to post this.

majority of recent reviews are Paid Vine Voice.
Dozens of reviews pumped in the last couple weeks.
many of the non Vine Voice reviews seem a little too good to be believed (very flattering photos, typical got the product to promote it type)
Add in this being promoted by SD...so I'd take this post with a grain of salt.
"Frontpage" in half an hour with twenty something votes.

maybe it's a good deal/item, but it definitely seems to be using all the tricks to get shilled.
a quick Google image search shows the same thing being sold under multiple brands/sellers but this deal price does seem to be the cheapest I saw
Nintendo released a firmware update that fixed this issue a long time ago.

As long as you don't have a third party dock from pre-2019 or a Switch on firmware version 5.0 or less (they're on version 17 last I checked), this is a non-issue.

It's important to remember that this was Nintendo's issue, as they didn't use USB-IF standardization with their charge controller.

The third party docks just got thrown under the bus because apparently Nintendo is infallible among journalists.
The difference in price is due to the multiple power options. This is the maximum power output of the charger/dock. The switch would be perfectly fine with 37W. For other systems such as a steam deck one would probably want the 65W version.

I saw on this last time it came up, but there were messages of first Gen switch may brick, has anyone had a success story of not bricking their launch modded switch? Would like a travel dock.

I got the 65w last time it popped up. It is much more convenient and cheaper than buying a whole new docking station. I got the 65w since my kids will generally play the switch till it's dead and it definitely charges quickly.

I guess they have figured out the potential bricking of consoles? The third party docks have problems when you do not use the official AC adapter for the Switch. This has the AC adapter built into the product. I see that as being a problem...

Not sure if this is still an option, but I bought a refurbed dock (black, original without Ethernet port) directly from Nintendo and it came with the power adapter. Like all of Nintendo's refurb stuff, it was like brand new. I prefer that over some 3rd party option that could potentially damage my system.

Boy I would love a device like this for travel that I wasn't worried would brick my Switch. I've got an OLED model. How do we know this device won't cause any issues?!

This device charges the switch as it's played. So why would the 65 watt be necessary?

I'd have to assume the kids play it in handheld mode, and when the battery dies, the 65w will charge it faster.

That is still an option (https://www.nintendo.com/us/store...TOxpSImc), but it's more than twice the price of this. I have one of these and have found it's much easier for travel. You can easily plug into basically any hotel TV by just bringing this along, and it takes up less space in your luggage.

I have an OLED Switch and am concerned about using anything other than the Nintendo charger. I bought a mini dock kit but haven't assembled it yet.

Has the charger issue been 100% resolved or is there still a possibility of trouble?
