has only 70 feedback ratings in the last year and 565 total. well below SD minimums but the rules don't apply to Paid SD Staff Influencers. an actual community member wouldn't have been allowed to post this.

majority of recent reviews are Paid Vine Voice.
Dozens of reviews pumped in the last couple weeks.
many of the non Vine Voice reviews seem a little too good to be believed (very flattering photos, typical got the product to promote it type)
Add in this being promoted by SD...so I'd take this post with a grain of salt.
"Frontpage" in half an hour with twenty something votes.

maybe it's a good deal/item, but it definitely seems to be using all the tricks to get shilled.
a quick Google image search shows the same thing being sold under multiple brands/sellers but this deal price does seem to be the cheapest I saw

Nintendo released a firmware update that fixed this issue a long time ago.

As long as you don't have a third party dock from pre-2019 or a Switch on firmware version 5.0 or less (they're on version 17 last I checked), this is a non-issue.

It's important to remember that this was Nintendo's issue, as they didn't use USB-IF standardization with their charge controller.

The third party docks just got thrown under the bus because apparently Nintendo is infallible among journalists.

The difference in price is due to the multiple power options. This is the maximum power output of the charger/dock. The switch would be perfectly fine with 37W. For other systems such as a steam deck one would probably want the 65W version.

I bought the 65W version the last time it showed up on SD. So far, it does exactly what I hoped it would do; a docking station for my non-OLED switch and charge my kid's Chromebook for school.

Does anyone know if the 65W would be able to charge an LG Gram?

TIA

The description mentions Steam Deck and others, so presumably this will work for other devices, i.e. split USB-C out to power and HDMI as it does for Switch.

Anybody know if the USB-A port will power a portable monitor (with USB-C to A cable)? It would be convenient to use a single outlet to power both the monitor and the Switch.
Many usb-c monitors don't even need this dock. 1 cable from monitor to power and 1 cable from monitor to Nintendo.

This device charges the switch as it's played. So why would the 65 watt be necessary?
Charging other devices.

This is completely wrong. Nintendo follows the spec just fine. The issue was Nyko chargers that didn't follow the spec.

I guess they have figured out the potential bricking of consoles? The third party docks have problems when you do not use the official AC adapter for the Switch. This has the AC adapter built into the product. I see that as being a problem...
The issue was never the docks. It was specifically with Nyko power supplies that were not following the USB-C PD spec. As long as the power supply (or dock/power supply combo unit) follows the standard correctly, then there is no issue.

I have an OLED Switch and am concerned about using anything other than the Nintendo charger. I bought a mini dock kit but haven't assembled it yet.

Has the charger issue been 100% resolved or is there still a possibility of trouble?
If you're so concerned don't buy this...

Is the code dead? Amazon won't apply it.

Never mind. The app makes it a PITA to apply the code. Gotta press the arrow in the promo code box and not continue.

There a real difference between the 65w and 67w or just an older gen being phased out?

Any difference between 65w and 67w, besides 2 extra w?
Or, are they pretty much exactly the same?
Thanks!

Not sure if this is still an option, but I bought a refurbed dock (black, original without Ethernet port) directly from Nintendo and it came with the power adapter. Like all of Nintendo's refurb stuff, it was like brand new. I prefer that over some 3rd party option that could potentially damage my system.
For me the big thing I missed with a 3p dock was the ability for CEC on the TV. I had an insignia dock from a few years ago, but I love the ability to just turn on the controller, and it automatically turn on the tv and switch input. To get the insignia to work, I had to manually turn the switch on, even if was already docked from a previous session, and put it in the base, then change the input manually. Not a huge deal, but the QoL for myself, and the ability for my 6 y/o to turn it on himself was worth it.

Sadly, the refurb one I got from Nintendo did not come with a power adapter (maybe because I got the v2 with the ethernet port), but I used the one from insignia as it was still 35w.

I made the same mistake on the app and thought the code must have expired. I'm glad I read your comment.
