The spouse/partner trick is unnecessary. Just sign up as though you are moving to your own address. I did it again yesterday and it worked the same as a year ago. Go to Xfinity.com (while NOT signed in) > Internet Deals. Enter address and it will recognize you have service there. Ignore the buttons for signing in or transferring service. Instead choose the option for new customer. Click through the plans and get your cart all tidy. Eventually you will come to a page asking you to either create an Xfinity ID or log into an existing; choose existing. It will even let you keep your autopay bank account the same. Shortly after submitting, you'll see a pending cancellation email and a thank you for your new order. Later (or in my case the next (this) morning), another email will give the cancellation date (several weeks out for me). Once the new modem arrives (if you chose one, which I did in order to get the $10 XFi complete), activate the new modem under the new account and it will automatically cancel your prior account at the same time. There will be some final prorations on the old account, and the new account will also have the opposite.

I'm guessing it's the same, age old trick with Comcast: if you don't get the answer you want from the rep you're talking to....try, try again.

(Totally guessing...) but it feels like the reps get bonused on the new accounts they sign up. So if you find the right rep, they'll have you cancel your current plan, then start on the new plan, and that rep would get the credit.

And don't ever feel like you're screwing over Comcast. I had Comcast Business for 1Gig for 2 years at $100 per month. The DAY that it ended, they jacked me up to $300 per month. I didn't notice it for 2 months. Once I did, I switched to regular Comcast for 900MB for $60. If I didn't cancel, they would have happily charged me $300/mo for my service I'm now getting for $60.

If they're offering it...you deserve it. Good luck!

Has anyone been successful getting this pricing applied to a current/active account?
Any tips/tricks?

THANK YOU! i followed your steps last night and it worked flawless. I also called them and spent 40 minutes on the phone to confirm the new activation date of that day, and to close the old account. I also called to ensure they transferred my modem over to the new account.

Thanks for the info. Just followed steps and worked, Added the $10 option for the gateway and Unlimited Data. Got cancellation email and seems to be going smoothly so far.

Not quite as good as this, I just renewed my service, 200mbps down|100mpbs up, for $45/month => $35/month for 24 months and after autopay by talking to somebody from retention department.

I was really on the verge of cancelling since my contract was over (again) and they raised my price for the same internet service speed. I think before I was paying $64.99 and it was raised to $89.99. Even if you're not really wanting to cancel or switch, just find your inner Leonardo DiCaprio in you and you should be able to get a better deal than what you currently have.

I've been with Xfinity for a few years now and I it's really hard (in my experience) to get those new customer deals. I guess this will depend on how well you perform when talking to retention department.

hmm... so they knew it was the same person 'moving' and didn't say anything?
good to know!
and wonder if you had to call them to transferr the modem or if it would have worked had you not...

I've always did it in two steps; cancel first then once it's finally turned off (you might get a few days of free service), resign up with same name/user - You do get a few hours of downtime. Your way is pretty clean. Thanks for the tip! (two months till my current promo ends)

Yeah I did that once in the past too. You're welcome. This 'trick' is not mine -- I learned about it last May when one of the original threads for the $35 deals showed up. The thanks belong to them and the OP here (please rep them)!

We signed up last year with $25 month with autopay. Anyway we can extend this for next two years?

Also, anyway to avoid the shipping charge?

help! lol So I just tried it - did self install and no equipment (altho it said 3-5 days for 'welcome package') got an email saying got the Welcome Email, a Cancelation Email and 1 that says 'Your Xfiinity ID is linked to another account'....so How do I know the 'old account' is cancelled and the 'new' account is active and won't get charged for both??? AND Will I need to do anything with my current modem to make it work on the new service??? I plan on using it for the 'new' account too...

When you login and click on the account icon in the upper right of the webpage, there should be an option to "switch account". You can go between your old and new account.

After a while, when you are sure the old account is cancelled, and you moved any bill credits over to your new account, you can disassociate the old account from your login.

As for the modem, I didn't have to do anything to move it between accounts. I just rebooted it once just in case.

As of now, I am not able to see any account switch button on top right corner. It is only my account. It looks like the speed has changed but I am not sure what happened to the old account and see If my discount credit is still there or not.

If you're logged in and you click on the account link (the purple icon with the shape of a person on it) in the upper right corner, it will bring up a menu with "Billing" "Account and Identity" etc... items... somewhere in the middle, it should have a "switch account" link. If it isn't there, you can try this link after you login:

https://slickdeals.net/?adobeRef=c74e411ad68111eeace0aa402ec8805f0000&sdtid=16822319&sdfpid=852281&sdpid=168991240&sdfid=9&lno=2&trd=https%20customer%20xfinit%20wbr%20y%20com%20&pv=&au=&u2=https%3A%2F%2Fcustomer.xfinity.com%2F%23%2Fsettings%2Faccount%2Flinked-accounts

That should bring up a list of all your accounts.
