I bought one and planning to build a new system for my parents.
Wonder what would be a good case for microAtx MB.
I am also looking for MB as well.

8600G seems like it's comparable in performance to the Core i5-12600K, which is selling for $170. Intel is the better deal?

You want to look at this;

8600G/8700G are designed to "not need" a GPU and can handle a lot more with onboard graphics than a 12600k. Totally depends on your application of course

Really wouldn't want to jump too quickly into the integrated graphics 8000 series cpus. I would wait until the stock of it it dwindles down from the prebuilds they will putting these things on, maybe then maybe it would be worth it's price for anyone who wants to put it into a build without a dedicated gpu.

The 8000g series don't really justify it's pricing if you can build one on your own that doesn't include the G series but mix it with a dedicated gpu and end up with better graphic performance at the same price. A ryzen 3/5 8000 (non-G).

It's a lukewarm deal even if it were 10-15% off MSRP price. I'd wait for a better pricing.

Amen. These APUs are worth it only if you absolutely, physically cannot fit a dedicated GPU in your build.

Also at this point you could be using a ryzen 5700g at good deal price at $140 on holiday sales. There is really no need to get the 8000g series if you don't plan on having a discrete gpu. You would be hard pressed to say that the 8000g series are good for todays modern games. A heavy price to pay for the newest motherboard and cpu at the cost of around $450-550 just for those 2 things.
