You shouldn't even need a gpu for Plex. The igpu in the 8700 is more than capable of multiple 1080p/4k streams. Unless you need AV1 support

Thoughts on this vs the 5820 Intel Xeon 6 Core (W-2133) 3.60 GHz and P4000 8GB? Primarily Plex machine for local streaming and Lightroom.

Edit: Eh, nevermind. After doing some research, I see that you have to use one of the "Flex Bay" modules if you want an SSD. That leave three slots for HDDs. My current rig has the same capacity, so not much point for me swapping.

After using Dell systems with the government for so long, I don't think I could ever get myself to buy one personally. I know the crappy network and insane bloatware aren't Dell's fault, but every time I'm sitting and waiting for the system to work, I stare at the Dell logo. 😃

I think most would be better served with an entry level $300 i5 desktop or laptop. 8th gen very long in the tooth at this point. I've got a server cluster running on 8th gen boxes and paid $150 per with similar specs about a year ago.
