Looking for a gaming PC for my son's birthday and have been overwhelmed by all the choices and specs. Is this a good one? Seems like it for the price, but I've been out of the game s while.

There's a similar one from Costco for $900 and has higher ssd 2gb, includes keyboard/ mouse. Both seem like good deals
Looks like my thoughts have already been listed in the thread. Why would anyone name their pc after poison gas used to exterminate people...
Ugh seriously

the 4060 is pretty much the worst of the newer cards, it gets completely outclassed by the 3070 which is roughly the same price if you buy it open box / used
What value does your post bring? Yes, the 4060 may be outclassed by a 3070 but a quick compilation of prices for the listed specs for the exact parts shows a price range of approximately $870 to $1100 PLUS putting it together and having an out of warranty GPU.
How exactly is that a better deal? That said, how exactly is the 3070 "completely outclassing" the 4060? Spec to spec, it's damn close. Toss in power efficiency, warranty coverage, longevity, then does it really, REALLY make that much more sense to build around a 3070 than buying this?
Never mind the fact that this may not exactly be geared towards PC builders.
So again, what value does your post bring only for it to put you in the limelight long enough for you to say, "A 3070 iS betTaH"

How did you come up with the estimate of $870? If you have a pc part picker or a list that you threw together, I would very much be interested in seeing it.
I agree that for the price, this looks like a decent machine for an intro gaming rig. However, the person who stated that the 4060 is not as good as the 3070 is not wrong. The 3070 outperforms by a good 10%. One could argue that the 4060 has newer GPU core technology and updated dies, however the performance would still be less than its previous generational counterpart.

Ddr4 means it's last gen. I haven't looked but probably a year or two old processor as well. Ddr5 more future proof.

Same. I know it's "cyclone" in German. Still somewhat insane they use the name.
The 4060 is not well received by most PC enthusiast's (builders, engineers, overclockers, etc). Most of the people who are into gaming and need to get a set-up usually are "laymen" and don't fit into this category. For the average person, the 4060 fits their needs and that's why companies like Ibuypower, Cyberpower, and others can stick it in a machine and offer it to the general population. Most PC enthusiast's know to stay away from these machines as they are usually overpriced by a few hundred dollars, and they aren't usually very well spec'd.

It is not about fitting their needs but the value proposition. You could put 7800 XT for not much more and get much more amazing performance. I guess I see the draw of having the latest gen card at a lower price even though the performance per dollar sucks.
Really though, you could put a 4070 in this or a 4070 super and charge well over and it would be well worth it.

This one I made as I was trying to price this machine.
