If you haven't used anything from Wera before and/or don't use hand tools day in and day out then you probably wouldn't understand/need/want this set. It's certainly not for everyone, but what it ABSOLUTELY is NOT is "overpriced junk". I work in the robotics industry and have tools from every manufacturer you could possibly imagine. My Wera tools are consistently among my favorite tools I own. Do they do anything another tool absolutely cannot do? Not at all. Do they do that job better than most any other tool out there? Absolutely. That's a distinction that matters to me, but it may not matter to you. Purchase accordingly.
I disagree on the homeowner buy. I'm a homeowner and I think a set like this would be fantastic around the house for non-automotive applications since I already have lots of GW tools for automotive.
This set will be particularly nice for putting IKEA furniture together, putting together kids outdoor toys like the Lifetime giant seesaw airplane that's been in my garage since 2022 🤣.
At $57 for a nice quality set I can afford, seems like a nice set to have around the house. I wouldn't buy at the normal $80 average price though.
Don't IKEA furniture already include any needed tools in their kits?
Silly question, but are the bits identical between the 2 sets, only the sockets are imperial vs. metric?
The bits are similar, but there are some differences (at least, according to the pictures/renders on Amazon).
Looks like the torx, security torx, the 1/4" socket adapter, slotted bit, and the sizes of the philips bits are the same.
The imperial set has 5 imperial hex bits and 5 square bits (called Robertson bits, I think).
The metric set has 5 metric hex bits and 5 additional (gold color) philips bits.
(I hope this is accurate, please correct me if I'm wrong!)
This is a set that's primarily marketed towards industrial use in euro land. Even then I was in the same boat as you and swapped out several of the bits with smaller hex/torx, especially since I have a 1000v withstand set of phillips and standard that I carry.
Edit: I lost one of these sets to TSA. Even though everything in this set is supposed to be fine, don't expect TSA to be trained well or consistent to their own rules. Bag check your tools.

The gold color bits are not Philips bits (PH), they are Posidriv bits (PZ). They have ribs between the 4 arms. They are not interchangeable.

Yes and it's like 2 hrs shorter with a nice ratcheting capability and this a great little kit for that. Ones with IKEA are cheap manual wrenches that you need to spin countless times while trying to have it stay on.

The metric is $66 on Amazon but no bundled ratcheting screw driver.
Thanks. Will order the set you link plus metrics sockets if needed.

Here's the comparison and how to identify between the two: https://www.finehomebui
