This is not certified refurbished, is third party refurbished so make sure you check battery cycle. Bought one yesterday but thr 512gb for $799. Came clean like new but it looks like it was used with some finger print etc. battery cycle 6. No apple warranty.

Returning it today since i got a better deal on a windows laptop. Window works better for me for my usecases.

Edit: when buying a refurbished apple device from microcenter make sure it says "certified refurbished". Meaning it comes straight from apple "lnew condition" sealed apple box with 1 year warranty.

Refurbished only 90 days warranty and refurbished by a third party used

Even as someone who likes apple products, their pricing on ram and storage is obviously absurd

I bought a new M1 MacBook with 8GB/256GB around $700 since 2020 for my teenager. Have been waiting for a Macbook with 16GB/512GB for the past 2 years, but always over my budget.
I really dislike the way Apple sell their products, charging $200 extra to upgrade from 8GB to 16GB, and then another $200 to bump up from 256GB to 512GB. Frown

Grabbed one from my local store for pickup. I know the 8gb of RAM will limit it, but for this price it seems kind of a no-brainer

Geez. I definitely want this but I have no use for it. But definitely a good deal.

Gonna wait for a open box on one of these. I can see 500-600 for open box. 500 would be perfect as microcenter has awesome open box deals from time to time

Why do you dislike it? If you want to double your RAM or storage, you should have to pay for the additional functionality, no? They didn't become one of the world's most valuable companies by underpricing themselves.

Also: RAM has become so incredibly efficient under the Mx architecture that you really don't need anything beyond 8GB for the vast majority of applications.

If you read my post carefully I didn't say I dislike Apple. I love Apple and their products.
I just don't like the way they upsell you RAM and storage. Also why did you even asked me "why"? I already explained the reason just like Won's posted after you, he said "their pricing on ram and storage is obviously absurd."

I was just about to ask this question - thanks for the insight! I trust "Apple Refurbished" products blindly, and it's a hard no for other 3rd party refurb offers. Still, this price is tempting and YMMV as always!
