If I lived back in the Wild West days, instead of carrying a six-gun in my holster, I'd carry a soldering iron. That way, if some smart-aleck cowboy said something like, "Hey look. He's carrying a soldering iron!" and started laughing, and everybody else started laughing, I could just say, "That's right, it's a soldering iron. The soldering iron of justice." Then everybody would get real quiet and ashamed, because they made fun of the soldering iron of justice, and I could probably hit them up for a free drink. - Deep Thoughts by Jack Handey

I suggest you buy one of these USB-C soldering pens before this station. It's the best one I've owned so far. It heats up instantly. It has a nice cut out for your forefinger with a touch sensitive on and off so when you're ready to solder you just put your finger down and it heats up instantly and when you're done, you lift your finger up And it cools down and the digital temperature gauge is real time so you know when it's cool enough to put it down. FYI, it is not rechargeable. It's just USB-C powered https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...UTF8&psc=1

"Just" USB-C? You know USB-C can carry 100W, right?

Seems like a cool tool. Requires a 30W wall wart.
It comes with everything you need.
Portable Soldering Iron
Cleaning Sponge Stand
Type-C Fast Charger (PD 30W)
Type-CAdapter Cable (59 in)
XT60-C Adapter Cable (17 in)
DC5525 Adapter Cable (7 in)
User Manual all for $23. Now that's a deal.
Anyone know about tip compatibility for the iron in the OP? I'm tempted to get one as a backup at a second site, but I went to be able to get tips in the future. (You can still get new tips for Weller's original TCP irons from like 1960, which is really something.)

At one point do I need the me of those face/eye masks. Would I need one for this for small circuit board tinkering? Thanks
If you solder once a year, probably not. I don't turn on the fan every time. Most work won't generate a lot of smoke. I'd hold off on a suction fan until you work on a few and see how much smoke there is. Usually if the solder has too much resin coating, or you're using a lot of flux that is getting burned off etc, or accidently hitting non metal stuff by accident. You tend to lean in and have your face right above the work piece so it does go straight up to your nose. For casual work a small fan on low will be fine in a garage or open space.

Looks like you can get a set of 13 tips for $11.99 from Tiswall for now. Not sure about the future.
