This truly is a budget CPU. If you need it for gaming, consider at least a 5600 or 5600X (both around $130), which have PCIe gen 4 and twice (32MB) the L3 cache, which is one of the most influential factors when it comes to gaming performance.

No, there isn't.

If it truly is a 5600G with disabled graphics, it's likely because the graphics chip on it was unstable or dead in the first place.

Ironically, it is literally a 5600g with the video disabled. That's why it has less cache and slower PCI-E than a 5600x or other desktop processor without the built in video.

The main link goes to the GT which is not the deal. The small link at the bottom of the description is the right one.

Edit: never mind, works now for some reason

I don't know about the 5500 but I can attest to the 5600 being an absolute gaming beast. I just upgraded to a 5600 when Amazon had a sale a few weeks ago for $119.99 and I couldn't be more impressed. I paired it with an AIO cooler and am overclocking/undervolting and I can't get it over 55 degrees while gaming. Every game runs flawlessly on ultra settings.

Agreed. The 5500 is a decent budget chip. But for a little more the 5600/5600x is much better.

Good deal on a better cooler as well here...

Do not get this, it has half the cache of the R5 3600 and doesn't support PCIE Gen 4. The 5500 is just a bad 3600 refresh like we have seen with the new 14th generation Intel refresh.

AFAIK no one has found a way to re-enable it. There have been cases in the past where people have figured out how to re-enable disabled hardware on CPUs or GPUs but this isn't one of them. They may have an actual defect with some part of the video hardware which is why it was binned as a 5500 or it might have been fine and was disabled just to match product demand. There's really no way to know for sure.

Performance wise the 5500 may be pretty close to the R5 3600 in games but this isn't in any way a bad refresh of the 3600 like the intel 14th gen is. It's a completely different chip with Zen 3 cores vs zen 2 cores. It's also a monolithic chip being based off of the laptop APUs instead of multiple chips on a single package like the 3600 would be. Completely different chips and in no way is the 5500 a refresh of a 3600. If your primary concern is gaming a cheap 3600 may be a better option for you but that doesn't change what the 5500 is.
