From my personal experience, I've had good luck with buying from them. Got the xm4 ear buds over a year ago and they still with great. Looked near new when I received them too.

On eBay, they only sell refurbished consumer electronics. And they all come with eBay buyer protections such easy returns and 2-year warranty. I wouldn't hesitate buying from their eBay store, for what it's worth.

See the last update on the OP regarding the XM5s reportedly having similar issues. I've personally had to replace the batteries in my XM4s 3 times and still seem to have battery issues. I get about 90 minutes out of my right earbud even after replacing the battery only a few months ago, even after updating the firmware.

I've purchased the 2x wireless xm3 earbuds and overhead headphones.
One of the earbud's battery died around 18month after purchase and all state couldn't fix it so gave me a full refund. Other two have been working fine and looked clean and new to me (no scratches). Also you have 30 day free return, so if you need one, you have nothing to lose. Infact, with eBay refurbished you get 2yr warranty on these earbuds, which is double the 1yr Sony warranty for new ones.

In their case, it is probably very difficult to get that high due to the nature of what they are selling (used products).
Just from anecdotal evidence they are a hit or miss here. I've heard good things and bad. My personal experience however has been good but I've only bought a small handful of things from them.
