Beware!

I'd been a happy Secondipity customer for years and vouched for them here on SD (see post history), but they've adopted new, consumer-unfriendly policies. Reports that they're sending items that aren't actually refurbished, rejecting returns, and banning customers who return are 100% accurate.

My last couple purchases didn't meet condition criteria. Got a Sony AZ3000ES receiver ($1000 item) with stickers on it and a sizable dent to case. They claimed it was in acceptable condition for a refurb and made no effort to address the issue other than suggesting I return it. Then they refused to provide a paid return label because they claimed no defect. When I left negative feedback, they banned me as a buyer.

I have the M4. Are these worth the upgrade?

I bought these headphones refurbished from eBay. I don't remember the name of the seller. But after one year one of the earbuds battery completely died.

Are these really worth the price? Even Samsung are cheaper now.

I've read about microphone issues with the XM4 and 5. Can owners let me know if this is still true? I've been looking to replace my XM3 due to issues with microphones when sound would become granulated unexpectedly to the point I can't trust making calls with it. Are the XM 4& 5 better?

I bought a pair and sent it back. The packaging was horrible and the earbuds were not even cleaned. Also, the device when connected had the registration info of the previous owner, which means it was not even reset before shipping it.

I recommend potential buyers review the battery debacle that's plagued the XM4s and possibly the XM5s as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/SonyHead...ry_issues/

See the last update on the OP regarding the XM5s reportedly having similar issues. I've personally had to replace the batteries in my XM4s 3 times and still seem to have battery issues. I get about 90 minutes out of my right earbud even after replacing the battery only a few months ago, even after updating the firmware.
Oh man my XM4's batteries have been shite but thankfully they're like 2 years old now. Glad to see this is a real issue. True wireless headphones are a mistake and phone makers should never have pushed them into us.. bring back the headphone jack!

Seller is good, the product not so good. Warranty is a waste of time.

Just sent my XM4 to AllState a 3rd time for battery issues. I don't even think they do anything with it and just return it back because they just get so many like this.

It's not a mistake by the manufacturers... Who get to sell more headphones because of the failure points introduced by TWS (mainly the battery).

Whatever you do, do NOT update the firmware.
Any particular reason? Or do you just like ominous statements to terrify passerbys? LMAO

Sony's firmware update bricked a massive number of XM4's because it made them with XM3 batteries when they ran short on the ones designed for XM4s. Sounds like they produced batches of XM5's with XM4's batteries and recent firmware updates are bricking XM5's the way XM4's were bricked.

Sony would refuse to repair refurb earbuds even if you offer to pay. Your only hope is for the bricking to take place during your eBay warranty period.

I just replaced the battery in my right earbud, and I noticed that it now has a deeper sound than the left ear bud. Have you experienced this before? I thought maybe it's because I didnt seal it up properly or something.
Personally, I have not had this happen. That is indeed very odd.

Highly unlikely that you had it for a year considering this product was released on July 23, 2023

I owned the XM4 and have been using the XM5s for a month. Both have excellent voice quality for phone calls. I have asked people at the other end to verify my sounds quality (obviously I can't tell by myself)

I have had a completely different experience with Sony about my XM4s. I had the dreaded battery issue with the XM4 and Sony provided a shipping label and refunded my purchase price. I had the original receipt. And the product was out of warranty. I have nothing but good things to say about how Sony handled this. You can search the Internet and find lots of reviews with experiences such as mine. Most other companies are a pain to deal with regarding warranty repairs. And that is when their product is in warranty. Sony is great
