I still find it so odd that people will buy these thin, overpriced metal storage systems for garage when making a wood system is simple, fast, customizable, and better.
still have some from the sears points deals 10+ years ago they work and still look good

I'm glad I now own a home with a nice table saw and all that but a lot of people don't nor do they have the basic skills to create something like this so they just buy something like this and call it a day.
I mean...I figured that's pretty obvious.
I can go fabricate things like a massive mirror with a lovely wooden border in like 20 mins super easily but people will pay $200+ for them at the store because they don't want to go make their own.

It's almost like people have different hobbies and skills?! Wild.

As a woodworker, making your own cabinets is clearly the way to go, especially on the customizable end. While the gauge of the metal is extremely thin, they do their intended purpose and ideally they are just sitting on a wall where they won't get banged up.

If you got them from Sears back in the day during the frequent sales for $99 each and paid with shopyourway points, then you probably have the "Preassembled Welded" cabinets. Which are much better quality than these "Ready to Assemble" cabinets. Apples and Oranges.

Has anyone else had problems with spotting/staining of the silver tread on the doors of these? In general I really like the these, but all the doors near my washer and dryer have spots on the finish.

It's almost like I have all the time in the world with 4 kids—7,5,2,9 mo to just go out and make something with all my time when an off the shelf ready to go cabinet I can just move in its spot and be done!

Came here to post what a couple others have already said: I absolutely love my Gladiator racks and welded cabinets, but this RTA stuff isn't worthy of the Gladiator name, and unfortunately most of what these have going for them over cheaper cabinets is the name. They're not terrible -- just not anything better than "good enough."
