Back then they upgraded everyone for free to the enhanced edition of the game as long as you own the base game.

Side note: I just wish Steam would allow users to add free DLC to their account even if they do not own the parent game. At some point I will buy DL on Steam...just not today. Already played it to death on the Switch but would not mind playing again on the Steam Deck. Runs okay-ish via Epic but not great, received that copy for free so no huge loss there.
