It's a freaking oil pan drain plug.

I get everybody drives a car, but why is this in the "popular" section taking up space when there's far better deals that are more pertinent to people than this, and yet get far less attention than this?

How does something that has currently 8 thumbs up and 12 posts get in the popular section?🤔
I believe there are a variety of factors that play into it. But to be honest I don't know exactly, I am a Moderator here. What I can do is ask and follow up with you if you would like.

That is the most verbose description for a metric bolt I've seen in my life. Sadly, it's not even magnetic.

They don't have just one guy to support it, they have a WHOLE TEAM of drain bolt experts! I can't wait to talk to them for all of my drain bolt needs.
"Ideal solution - engineered to replace a missing plug"

If your drain plug is missing then you can use this to put on your seized engine before tuning it in to get your core charge back. Isn't that ideal?

How are you guys losing drain plugs?
I thought everybody lost drain plugs? I remove mine as soon as I acquire a new vehicle (which is quite often), all those fluids just build up inside and eventually leak. Removing the plug eliminates that problem. I also never have to deal with oil changes (why change it when you can just prevent it from accumulating in the first place?).

Since I started using Fumoto drain valves I don't see any need of using drain plugs. Not worth the time and effort IMHO. The drain valve makes the job so easy and clean. Just my 2 cents.
I was going to buy that too. Then I found out about oil extractor pump. It's even better and yes it can get all the oil out.

Lol I feel like someone on the interweb will see this and believe it. Honorable mentions are: use loctite, use impact gun, use one step bigger socket to round the bolt head. 😂

Same here. Great if you have a top mount filter.

So here's a question for the board. Last few years my 2012 Accord has had a slight oil leak. Nothing major just a few drops here and there. Mechanic said drain plug was stripped and should just have a new oil pan installed. Others have just put in an oversized plug each time they change the oil no issues. Started leaking again slowly so I called Honda. They said I don't need a new oil pan just some Honda bond installed in the pan which would run $400. Any thoughts on how to fix? Is it a big cost for a new oil pan? I don't feel like the Honda bond or glue would last long. Thx

A way to spend $40 to turn a 5-minute oil drain into a 15-minute oil drain lol

This ad caught me by surprise. Are deals on drain bolts really needed? 😄

Does the oil just drain out slower or what's the cause of the extended timeline?

Part of me thinks that overall timeline may still match up closely, as you aren't having to locate your tools for the job or put them away when you're done.

it drains slower, but with a tube it's also much cleaner drain.

and honestly a lot of times other service is due, like tire rotation.

I don't understand. The bolt doesn't seal, the washer does. If the bolt isn't tightening enough to crush the washer it would be a bigger issue. The Honda bond is to re seal the perimeter of the pan when changing it. An oil pan is likely $30-50, the rest is labor.

wait, the leak is via the drain plug? sounds like the leak is via the seals if they're suggesting honda bond.

could try tapping it and installing a bigger plug.

not sure how hard it is to replace the drain pan, but that might be the cheapest and most straight forward fix.

get another mechanic's opinion.
