Great Price. Was about to order at $159 .

This seems to be the most powerful router in terms of CPU and memory (1GB)and drive (8GB emmc) available. Also 2 2.5GB ports (both can be used for WAN on dual-wan setup)

It's getting a very positive response on OpenWRT forums as the best new device for OpenWRT :

This is the openwrt device page https://openwrt.org/toh/gl.inet/gl-mt6000

It's 4x4 on both 2.4ghz and 5ghz and the fairly big storage and RAM make this great specs for the price.

It's a good router at a good price, but beware of the most recent firmware releases, it made my connectivity absolutely erratic. They have released a 4.5.7 "alpha" release which includes the closed source driver for the MediaTek WiFi chip that it uses, and it is much more stable than the "official" 4.5.6 release. A new official release, which supposedly also includes the closed-source driver (much better because it's the chip manufacturer's proprietary drive so it is much more optimized) is expected any day now. (It was delayed by a few weeks due to Chinese New Years.)

FWIW, the release with the closed source driver worked better for me than the OpenWRT snapshot builds and, AFAIK, there is no "offical" WRT release for it yet, just the snapshots. These seem to work OK, but performance and stability, for me at least, are not as good as they are with the "alpha" 4.5.7 release I just mentioned.

It's great, but note that you most likely won't be able to use 4x4 MIMO as most client devices these days (including latest MacBook Pros, iPhones, etc.) still only have 2x2 MIMO. Still a solid deal though.
