Speed seems as good as without it. This makes sense as the router is super fast compared with typical hotel Wi-Fi so it doesn't add any noticable lag.
You only need to log in the the hotel network one time instead of once for each device (once they are all initially configured to the Beryl network). I could see this being a huge benefit for families with a ton of devices.
It seems to maintain the connection to the hotel network, even when you are away, and reconnects instantly when you return. I haven't had to re-authorize over and over which I used to have to do frequently.
I eventually ended up buying 4 Mudi one for each family member but really we only use one since our independent travels dont happen all at the same time. Sadly the others are sitting almost unused, so you got to pay attention to what you want.
