Does it work on PC? And what's the 3.5mm jack for?

Hi, yes it works for PC as well. I included the image where they show the process for setting up on a Windows PC. The 3.5mm is a microphone for voice chat.

If it were just for the Bluetooth dongle, it's, meh, at best. With the mic, seems like a great deal especially for PS5 owners. You can use any Bluetooth headphones AND have a mic…. One doesn't have to go specifically looking for PS5 compatible headphones/mic, like those from Arctis. Pretty good deal IMHO.

On PS5 separating Game Chat Audio from Game Audio is such a pain. Party audio chat is separated. So if you are in a party, the comms audio comes through the 3.5mm jack on the controller and the actual game audio through the TV/Amplifier. But I've yet to find a way to get game chat audio over the headset that's plugged into controller, and the game play audio to the TV/AMP. Was not difficult at all on PS4... Could this help to solve that issue?

Well, for $18 it's worth finding out I suppose. We will see...

Disregard... I wasn't applying the code right. Was just entering it and hitting continue, gotta use the arrow next to the promo code text field then hit continue.

Does it work on a real (Linux-based) PC? : )

On the home screen, go to settings, sound, audio output to headphones. Here you can select to just hear chat audio on headphones while playing game audio through TV/Amplifier

I could be wrong, but couldn't you also just use the built-in mic on the PS5 controller or is the benefit of this is maybe noise canceling features and such in most earbuds?
This may be a better option for the Switch.

The advantage of having a separate microphone is that you get full sound quality over Bluetooth on every device and with every headset, without having to worry about codecs.

On devices that don't support advanced codecs like APT-X, what happens is your headset switches to a low quality SBC profile in order to be able to handle both the headphones and the microphone.

If you've ever taken a call with earbuds, you'll notice very quickly that the sound quality is much worse than when you're just listening to music. This is to accommodate the data transfer of both the headphones and the microphone.

The microphone on the PS5 controller might be good enough, but the reason to buy this is definitely the Bluetooth adapter.

Since none of the consoles support APT-X and the cheapest adapters seem to run around $25 regularly, that makes this a good deal.

When you factor in that the microphone goes for around $5-10 separately, it's an even better deal.

Here we are 20+ years after "modern" consoles and televisions came out, and the industry is *still* struggling with the basics of wireless audio. It's so sad and comical that it's still so complicated.

I have one like this from a different brand that I use with my PlayStation 4. It lets me talk into the controller and I get the audio through my regular Bluetooth earbuds hooked up to the TV. It does work well 🙂
