Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank swechsler

Also note that these do not include a keyboard. You can pick one up on eBay (new) for about 15 bucks.

If you're thinking about this as an alternative to an iPad pro, it weighs 1.8 lbs (vs 1.5 lbs for the iPad). It's unclear if that weight includes the keyboard, but I assume it does, so they're probably pretty competitive, weightwise.

Memory is not upgradeable but SSD is.

Oh man. I just bought an old 13" i5-8th gen two weeks ago for $200. I was looking for an 'ultralight' machine to carry around daily but only use in-case-of-emergency. I would have totally paid $100 more for this machine... DARN.

Oh well, I still bought this. Will find someone to give the 13" laptop to. Also bought the new keyboard/folio from ebay. Thanks @swechsler

Seems like a very decent price for a surface like tablet (obviously more underpowered but similar, nice form factor with a detachable keyboard). Bought one for my uncle's business to take some notes at work. C1 has an extra 4% back on Dell Refurb purchases.

Thanks, would you happen to have a link for the active pen it's supposed to come with? I'm not sure what the proper P/N is.

Manual [dell.com]says it's a Wacom pen. Possibly this [dell.com] but I'd contact Dell support to be sure.

ETA: more likely to be this [dell.com] one.

400 nits is nice, 16gb is nice but will DDR3 only be an issue? Considering getting for my kids who are use to using Amazon fire 11 tablet for speed comparison.

DDR3 is an unusual choice for a 10th gen computer, but I'd expect it to be pretty responsive. Presumably you're not going to be doing animation or CAD on this. But if they're currently using a Fire tablet, there are going to be a lot of apps that you're not going to have access to on Windows.

I wouldn't get this for kids who are using tablets. It's a windows pc. They are going to expect it to function like an android or ipad. It will be a horrible mess.

This is a laptop that you can touch and sometimes use handheld in certain situations.

That said, I'm looking forward to getting mine. It will be a great portable laptop to mess around with. I'll be using it any D&D table for campaign management. I'll also use it for drawing.

Thanks! I got the PN579X. We'll see how it performs. Also looking forward to getting it for my uncle. Will be nice for him to walk around with it and be able to take notes, and then dock it with a keyboard when seated.

Bought 2 last time this went on sale. For the form factor, 10th gen i7 processor, and price point, it's a great deal. Friend bought one also and wound up getting a keyboard included for some reason. I bought a keyboard and a Dell case. So I carry one around the house more as a "light" tablet, and the other in the case and keyboard as my "laptop" when traveling. Paired both to my phone using the Windows phone companion, and it's been great productivity tool being able to move between tablet and phone.
