Not hating but I don't believe I've ever paid $16 for shoes let alone hiking shoes. Is this even worth it?

No first hand experience with Ozark Trail shoes, but I've been happy with their other products. Maybe someone else will chime in?

17/19 reviews are "incentivized" so hard to take the ratings very seriously

the 2 non paid reviewers claim to have used for a while and they last well though

I bought it in Friday and used it Saturday. Definitely worth 17 bucks.

These look absolutely identical to the ones Costco used to carry by Fila that would sometimes go on sale in their warehouse for about 18 bucks (normally $25). I wouldn't be surprised in the least if they're the exact same, just with the Ozark branding on it.

They look pretty good considering their cost & start of surprisingly comfy and plush but once the insole has molded to our foot shape, they're not nearly as plush anymore. They definitely aren't going to last as long as your Merrell's but for the cost, it's not bad. Mine lasted me about a couple years, maybe a little more, of semi-regular everyday use including several light hiking stints while glamping at local Tahoe camp grounds. Alsl, they definitely aren't even remotely water proof (not that they claim to be) and that fabric over the toes will pass water spilled over them instantly, lol, but they breath well because of it... almost like a running shoe but w/ a stiffer toe box so light hits against rocks doesn't feel like you just stubbed your toe. Washing them in the washer machine really brings them back to life & makes them look new again since they're all fabric, but just make sure not to dry them in the drying machine or they shrink quite a bit on you (just air dry them).

It's too bad the "Taupe" color isn't also discounted. I haven't seen Costco carry them since as I always wanted to get another pair if I saw them so I went ahead and picked up a couple of the grey ones and threw in a tube of shoe goo to make the $35 free shipping (my tube has dried out). Thank OP.

Nice!
Went ahead and picked a pair up.
I figure I'll mainly use them for garden/yard work (with hiking as a bonus - if they're comfy)

I have been using running shoes for casual wear but I have decided not to. I have been thinking that hiking shoes might be better. If these are good enough for that then that will be good for me. If I can also spontaneously go up a hill when wearing these then that is better.

I got the last of the Brown size 9.

DO NOT buy this product.
I bought several, for me and my son last year. They're NOT durable at all!
I'm using them just daily, not even for hiking, and within 3 months they started to deteriorate.

I'm now wearing my second pair, last less than 6 months
These shoes are made of horrible cheap materials.

And oh yes, NO return/refund allowed.
Just stay away from these

Grip is not its strong point in neither smooth asphalt or offroad. If it's exactly the same as the costco ones, it has a mix of that EVA foam and grippy rubber contact points which work well enough but it's not a performance based shoe (think decent at whatever but a master of none). I wouldn't use it for roofing where your life depends on it or on some epic backcountry expedition. Think of it as a general everyday city shoe that has more aggressive profile with that trail hiking look.

I got shipping confirmation already and it's suppose to arrive tomorrow. So once they arrive, I can take more detailed pics of it and confirm if they really are the same shoes Costco used to sell.

I'd much rather wear these for daily knockaround than wear out the soles on my Salomon low hikers.

Don't they have one year warranty?
it is for occasional hiking, not everyday walking 😂
