I just bought the Ipad 9th gen for 249 dollars on Amazon , and it was 229 dollars around xmas season. That will tide me over for a few years, and the 9th gen generally sells better at the price point. If this 10th gen was priced like the 9th gen when it came out (maybe a little higher by 25 dollars, it would have done much better in sales. I guess read the current reviews and best price on budget IPAD and buy the IPAD you think will work for you , with your needs.

Amazon has around 59,000 reviews on the 9th gen ... and around 10,000 reviews on the 10th gen.

Good price, but 64 GB of storage is essentially unusable in 2024. Maybe as a single application/business kiosk (e.g. hotel check-in), but for average home users it will annoy you within a year just due to OS install + updates taking 1/3 of your storage. They should have switched to 128 GB minimum two generations ago. Absurd at this point.

the 9th gen is a great device but the 64gb storage is a joke. i go with the pro for this reason. i'll probably pick up a 256Gb on the refresh.

yeah more storage is always welcome. the 6th gen, 7th gen 8th gen IPAD had 32 gig entry level, I'm sure glad I didn't buy 32gb model Smilie. 64gb is better than 32 gb ... my 9th gen that I bought a week ago is using 18gbs ... and I have 46 gbs FREE. I do use plex server for media and streaming services.

64gb enough for the average person as long as you're not throwing tons of videos or music on it, which which most don't because of streaming. If you like to horde a bunch of games on it and a bunch of apps you rarely use, then you'll run into a shortage. If you're editing a bunch of raw photos or video that too but I don't consider those the average iPad user who just mainly consume content or do homework on it, those would be the pro users or air users

My experience with the 64GB iPad that I use for school with dozens of apps, some games, PDF downloads, some raw photo editing in Lightroom and photoshop. Still have 20gigs left and not stressing over storage.

I have almost every Apple product with Applecare. I will say though that this product still feels overpriced to me because an iPad is just a big phone with a lower quality screen than your phone.

Instead of this iPad I would probably just buy the Samsung a9 plus that is $240 for 128GB at Best buy. It's also brighter than the screen on this iPad. That's my .02 especially if you wer trying to use it as a computer but most likely a tablet would just be a streaming device in either case the a9 plus at 240 seems like a better deal for a newer tablet with a bright screen. I have a MacBook pro that cost me like $2000 and I feel like I wasted my money personally

When planned obsolescence gets out of control - selling a brand new obsolete product. Way to go Apple!

What about the performance side? I saw the A9+ has the Snapdragon 695. The iPad 9th and 10th both have the better processors with the A13 and A14 respectively.

It's not the hardware that slows down the android tablets for me. It's the lazy app conversion for the format and screen sizes. App developers can fine tune the iPad version way easier than trying to get the Android version to even rotate correctly.

I am still torn between 9th and 10th gen.

Primarily usage would be just Netflix or YT and taking notes in the university.

Open to the refurbished models as well.

Looking to get the ipencil as well.

Any suggestions? My budget is $200..
