How do people already have codes when this deal isn't even active yet? Does not compute.

For all the people offering an Amazon gift card in exchange for a code, couldn't one person just give you a fake code, not respond after getting the gift card, etc? I'd think Venmo or PayPal would be better since they offer buyer protection. What am I missing?

Cash sales such as PayPal and Venmo are not allowed. you can see the trading rules here: http://slickdeals.net/f/879633 .

Nobody has any mlb codes. They are reserving a code for next Tuesday. It's going to be a madhouse that day on this thread so just smart planning.

I see. Well that seems less safe since anyone can claim they have a code to give and then just have people send them gift cards, activate the gift cards, and never actually send a working code. I've been screwed multiple times before (via other sites) as that is the risk one takes when trying to get good deals but each time I used Venmo or PayPal with protection and got my money back.

But the "seller" in that case could easily get scammed. The rules encourage keeping trades small so any loss is not too aggravating. SDers stick together so if a trade falls through it's usually due to a mistake.

Only deal with high rep users. Or get your side of the trade first, whatever that may be.

A code by itself would be useless. The person has to log in to your MLB account to redeem it on a T Mobile phone. That's how the deal has worked for the past 4 years. Obviously there's a level of trust involved.

I'm about to switch to Verizon to get iPhone 15s. Does anyone know what happens to the mlb.tv subscription if T-mobile service is cancelled?

No, the code can be redeemed from a regular Wi-Fi connection. I've done it from an iPad on home internet before and others have reported similar results in the past.

One thing that sometimes causes confusion with some of these app-based deals is that it may try to automatically open the app on an iPhone, leading to difficulty retrieving the code manually. Getting the link from the TMo app on an Android device or using a different default browser (like Brave) can serve as a workaround.

Interesting. I don't recall that being successful in the past. It didn't work for me the first year at least.
