It's not shooter/competitive online games, which seems to be all most people care about these days lol

I had vesperia on switch but bought all the rest...except the tales of arise expansion bc I figure by the time I start it, there may be cheaper deal on the expansion. Big mistake or not? I'm new to bandai namco on cdkeys/steam

I have not heard a single good thing about the Arise DLC so I'd say it's safe to skip

All of these are great games. If you are only going to pick up a few, I would suggest Arise, Berseria, and Vesperia. You can probably skip Zestiria. They all have really good combat and interesting stories that aren't too heavy (except for Berseria, it gets a little dark).

Each of them kind of starts slow, but they all have great characters and stories. My wife makes fun of me for how Anime they are and how cheesy the stories are, but I think they are great JRPG comfort food.

Me too. Arise is quite repetitive so I haven't played it in a short while now. Symphonia is a great game.

Man, just realize that the post description said Tales of Berseria is not Steam Deck supported. Just bought it without realizing it.

edit: it does work.

Symphonia is a great game maybe my favorite of all the tales. i got most of them on steam already but wish i had gotten them at this price. although Arise is free on xbox game pass. I wanted to buy arise when it first came out but heard nothing good about it. but playing it on game pass and enjoying it very much. although for free i might not be as picky lol

For someone coming into this series who knows nothing about it, which one should I start with of the above?
Also are they are turn based RPGs?
Playing on a steam deck if that matters.

Thanks.

Vesperia DE shows $2.79 on the first half second of the page loading, then jumps to $4.69 and stays there, even after adding to the cart for me. The other prices are accurate, though. It does it with both anti-ad/tracking extensions disabled/enabled and logged out/in. Brave has that $2.79 blip, but firefox is solid $4.69. United States. Wait, now it's showing a $4.69 all the time everywhere.

Symphonia was my first tales game, it was different and neat from standard jrpgs, but the combat was awkward with co-op with my brother, camera is centered on player 1, Abyss improved it. Start with that or Berseria? Tales series' battles are in real time, even the 2d ones.

Tales baseria is playable on the steam deck. Might have to open it on desktop mode if anything. Snagged tales of baseria on the last tales deal they had.
