Good question. We buy closeouts, often brands that are removed from Amazon. You may remember some large Amazon-only brands from the past like Aukey, Ravpower, Tacklife, and many many others. It's generally good stuff, but they broke rules about generating reviews so Amazon shut them down. Others maybe sent too much inventory to FBA and the Amazon storage fees forced them to sell inventory. Sometimes it's just a great product like Peloton bikes that lost their sales momentum and we buy them. If it's a good product and a good price, we'll probably buy it.

After the FTC scrutiny about anti-competitive monopoly behavior Amazon themselves shut down thousands of Amazon Basics product lines on their site. We bought it and have listed many items on Racktodoor, Woot, eBay, and 50+ other channels.

Here are a few articles about it if you want to read more:

These have almost certainly been sitting on the shelf so long that they are partially expired.

Amazon has not sold 12 packs of these in like two years!

https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasi...B082DP5KR1

Remember when Amazon was closing warehouses in Q3/Q4 of 2022? They were selling these 9Vs and I bought an 8-pack back then for a crazy good deal. I bet some flipper loaded up and just realized their stuff is partially expired now and they want to dump it. That's my guess anyway.

I should note that even if these have been sitting around on a shelf for two years, it's still a good deal. The problem is we don't know how long, and if it's been more like four or five years, then that's totally different.

Just found this on Consumer Reports:

Q. Do you recommend using 9-volt lithium batteries to replace standard batteries in smoke detectors so that the replacement cycle can be extended?—William P. Bivins, Greenville, NC
A. Lithium 9Vs aren't recommended for smoke detectors unless you follow a strict battery replacement schedule. Those batteries maintain a high voltage until the end of their usable life, so they provide a much shorter "low battery" warning to alert you that it's time to swap in a fresh one. Alkaline batteries, by comparison, have a more gradual voltage drop-off, prolonging the "low battery" alert and greatly increasing the odds that you'll be nearby to get the alert.

But we change yearly, so should be OK. Price is close to Alkaline Sales.

I'll take a chance for $20. In for pack of 12. Equivalent price on Amazon [amazon.com]would be $68.84 since they only sell up to pack of 8.

Anybody knows the background of this site?
I can see a bunch of brands removed by Amazon due to fraudulent reviews selling here. I thought this was the portal they built to continue their business. But now they also sell Amazon Basics?
Very confused. Would like to know the story.

Not at all. Those are Alkaline. The one posted here are Lithium. 2-4 times more expensive, and deals are less frequent.

It's great timing to buy these. We coming on the PST time change, that many (including me) use as a reminder to replace smoke alarm batteries. But I am leery of this seller.

Thank you for the info. For $20, I am going to give this a try. No idea how long it will take to receive, but I will report back on date of batteries, condition, etc. They take PayPal, Amazon Pay, etc., so I don't think it is a huge risk.

Thanks, this one will ship from either California or Georgia so should be relatively quick depending on where you are. It might even show up in an Amazon Prime truck. We just started using their shipping service, which I find hilarious on these Amazon Basics products, but it's fast and good pricing compared to Fedex/UPS. Best of luck.
