Available from: About this book:
  • The son of a struggling single mother, Jamie Conklin just wants an ordinary childhood. But Jamie is no ordinary child. Born with an unnatural ability his mom urges him to keep secret, Jamie can see what no one else can see and learn what no one else can learn. But the cost of using this ability is higher than Jamie can imagine – as he discovers when an NYPD detective draws him into the pursuit of a killer who has threatened to strike from beyond the grave.
  • LATER is Stephen King at his finest, a terrifying and touching story of innocence lost and the trials that test our sense of right and wrong. With echoes of King's classic novel It, LATER is a powerful, haunting, unforgettable exploration of what it takes to stand up to evil in all the faces it wears.

As a long time Stephen King fan I thought this was one of his best books in years. The audiobook version read by Seth Numrich is a great production.

One of my all-time favorite King stories. Such a fun, nostalgic read.

Thanks to those who've chimed in on this book. For the cost, it was a no-brainer to buy it. And it sounds a little different than some of Stephen King's stuff that I binged on in my earlier years. Looking forward to reading this Smilie

there's no reason to own this if you have a library, It's The Sixth Sense mixed with a dash of John Constantine. I think they even reference the sixth sense in the book. I enjoy King but this feels like one of his kids wrote it. Uses old tropes that have already been done before and better. It's not a bad book but it's far from his best work. I'd rather read Cell or Under the Dome again than this book.

In case anyone cares Big Grin, of the King books I remember reading, order from best to worst:

The Dark Tower (HIGHLY recommend the Marvel comics after reading the book as well). Skip the show and the movie…both are terrible. Book is so epic it's almost indescribable.

11/22/63 (very close second). Also a show to avoid. Horrible. Book is truly amazing storytelling and an addictive page-turner.

The Stand (as above, avoid the show, book is amazing).

It (so far, about 75% through this). The audiobook of this is read by one of the best…narrators I've ever heard, and I've gone through some audiobooks. His talent is off the chart. It's a VERY dramatic reading but somehow he doesn't go overboard like so many others I've listened to. If the guy didn't win an award for it, he should have.

Then way way wayyyyy below all these is the almost terrible 'Fairy Tale'.

The last 25 % of It is rough, you are in for a ride kid. oof would love to hear back on that. The Fairy Tale was more trope and redone nonsense but it wan't bad. I don't really like any of kings books that involve children with the main line story.

I was expecting something different because of the cover and the fact that it's a Hard Case.

King's kids (and his wife) are all decent authors themselves, so I'm not sure that insult quite hit as intended.
