I've always heard the opposite, i.e., that Discover is consumer-friendly on chargebacks and disputes, and that's why a lot of merchants won't accept it.

If I buy $100 gift card (to be used within a few months) and get 5% back, my net cost is $95 (plus any interest I lose out on from the day of purchase, but would take a year to lose out on $5)

If I put that $100 in a HYSA, it takes me a year to earn $5

So if you buy gift cards that you will use within a year you will come out ahead

Can't use Discover at Costco

Exactly… disputed walmart double charge by mistake… i lost it and walmart charged 3rd time … it was $60 each transaction ….. then realized that discover is not an easy one
