Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good rage against a cellphone company. But I'm confused by this one. Why are you feeling ditched that T-mo doesn't offer a test drive to current customers? Were you hoping to test out the T-mo network, even though you are already a customer?

What?! Why do you need a free test drive if you are already a T-Mobile customer? 🤦 I have plenty of complaints about T-Mobile, but this is just ridiculous! As for perks, have you never heard of T-Life or their Dining Rewards program?

Who is eligible for Network Pass?

Non-T-Mobile customers that have not previously participated in Network Pass and meet the following criteria:

Have an eligible, unlocked phone with available eSIM and be located in the U.S.; a list of eligible phones can be found here
Weren't a T-Mobile customer or customer using the T-Mobile network within the past 90 days
Aren't current Metro by T-Mobile and Sprint customers, or customers of T-Mobile partners using the T-Mobile network
This is honestly a baffling policy by T-Mobile. Networks improve over time. Or at least they are supposed to.

I tried this pass maybe couple of years ago and it simply wasn't even as good as my current service Verizon, let alone better. I tried just now and it wouldn't let me participate.

I'm willing to give them a try again and even switch if it has gotten better, but certainly not on my dime given my previous experience with them. They should really allow anyone who has not participated in this trial in the last x days and has not been a Tmo customer in the last x days. And I don't care for 90 days. A couple of weeks should be more than enough to reveal everything I need to know about the network.

But just refusing for another trial after almost two years, I have very little incentive or insight to even consider switching. Not that they really care but that's just my opinion.

It's good for people who want to try out the network but I was shocked to see how close in price the T-Mobile plans are to AT&t and Verizon now. I'm not switching to save five bucks.
It's crazy how overpriced T-Mobile is. I've been with sprint for like 20 years. And never paid 73$ just for service. I'm get boost infinite for 25$. Screw it.

T Mobile is still the best post paid value someone can get. Lower price than competitors, and comes with more benefits. Free Apple TV, Netflix with ads, and Tmobile tuesdays (free mlb.tv and some soccer subscription, some free physical gifts too this past year like mugs, umbrella, journals). This is even after they've reduced the edge by removing credit cards from auto pay discount eligibility and reduced netflix plan to the ad based plan.

I'm on an unlocked phone on Verizon, have been trying to get Network Pass for two weeks and keep getting errors. guess I'm not switching.

I have 19 days left on my test drive eSIM. Started it on an iphone 11 pro max on Verizon. We're on a grandfathered plan restricted to 4G with 7 lines. Did a few road trips in remote areas to test TMO 4G and was fairly satisfied. Picked up a cheap iphone 12 mini to test 5G and transferred the eSIM to that phone. Interestingly, all functions work, phone calls and SMS run through the eSIM number.

In bigger cities, TMO 5G is pretty solid, but where I live VZW 4G is significantly faster than TMO 5G. Probably not going to switch carriers. Now I just need to convince the family to update VZW plan to include 5G.

Once you get enchanted and sign up for their service - forget about perks and discounts - same greedy BS as the others.
Do you test drive a car before buying it or after?

Look for carrier locked, it should say no sim restrictions if it's unlocked

SOMETHING WENT WRONG error. I have an old Tracfone expired SIM in iphone SE 2022. It asked for details, address and went to 'Setup Network Pass' step. It was successful until this step. After this, it went to 'Lets get you FREE data' step to agree to terms and conditions. Once clicking next, it went to 'Lets setup your eSIM' step and quickly displays something went wrong error.
Anyone faced this error? How to clear/circumvent this?

For those asking earlier in the thread, it looks like international access is NOT included.
https://www.t-mobile.com/support/...twork-pass

"Only available to participants in the U.S (United States) with existing service on another carrier. Not for international use"

What are you hoping to gain with a test drive of your same carrier? Oh, free service.
