Great CPU if you're using it for CPU intensive workloads, Gaming only would be better with a 5800X3d.
The motherboard in this bundle is a bit of a mismatch. Would prefer to pair it with something that has a more substantial VRM setup.
Advise going water cooled as well, a 280mm or bigger - excellent deals on the Arctic Freezer 2's and 3's on Amazon right now.

Are there any eBay coupons to stack with this to make it even slicker? It was $310 over Presidents' Day weekend and I know eBay sometimes throws out random coupons for electronics

To me, I prefer that MB as it has 5 PCIE slots which can include RAID and network card. Planned it in a NAS build.
I have this proc and decided on this over the 5800X3D. I've created Windows ISOs using NTLite, running a VM, and played games (Fortnite (yeah, I know) and Skyrim with ENB, Parallax, etc.) at the same time with no lag. Glad I went with this one.

There was a Slickdeals exclusive coupon recently, but it only was active for about an hour.âšī¸

I missed the deal for the processor to put in a used board. I was considering the same bundle, but the problem I have with the bundled motherboard as a NAS/ Media/ VM/ Gaming server is that it only has 4 SATA ports, 2x M.2, gigabit LAN, and 1 16x PCIe slot - all the rest are 1x. Keep in mind the 5950X does not have integrated graphics. Thus, if I want to run a GPU, the fastest network card supported in 4.0 x1 PCIe would be 2.5Gb. Could also give up an NVMe and use M.2 to 10g adapter, but I really want 2 NVMe cache drives mirrored and ideally a 3rd. NVMe requires 4x PCIe. https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherbo...v-12/sp#sp

I bought one for $330 and the next day they lowered the price to $320.
I think they're all B2 stepping now and mine runs great. I'm getting 4.7 on all cores and 5.1 to 5.3 GHz on multiple cores depending on the work load.
I had a 5700X stepping 0 and my wife has a stepping 1. They're both on a Asus Prime X570 Pro but her machine booted at a much lower default voltage.
I had to cut mine way back the match her voltage and temps. I assumed the difference was due to them being different stepping. But there must be a difference in our boards.
My board booted the 5950X the same as the 5700X at 1.42450. I used a offset of 0.081250. I really had to lower the voltage on the 5950X. The offset is -0.093750.
The Curve Optimizer is set to -30 on all cores. It rebooted at +200MHz (5.3) so I lowered it to 5.1. After it rebooted at 5.1 I raised the RAM voltage from 1.35 to 1.36 and it's been running great. I'm going to try 5.3 again now that I know it's stable at 5.1.
It's air cooled with a Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 EVO and temps are good using all cores at 4.7. There's no point in running them hot for 100-200 MHz, they're great as long as you tune them a little.
Mine wouldn't go past 4.4 without lowering the voltage and then it was 4.6. The CO is what really lowered the temps and got it to 4.8 but it'll throttle back to 4.7 if you're running all cores loaded for a few minutes. I have the temp limit at 79.
I read about the PS120 cooler on Slickdeals and when I read a review of the new all black EVO with upgraded fans, I decided it was worth the extra $8. It's a great cooler for the 5950X if you don't want to go with water.
At the time the combo was $399 and had it been $379, I'd have grabbed it for my 5770X. But I'm very happy with the whole setup.
I built a killer 7950X3D gaming machine for a friend, over $2500. It's a beast for sure! I'm not a gamer and I use the horsepower for video editing etc.
Like others, this will last me until something comes along that'll do 80,000-90,000 Passmark. The 5950X does 46,000 and the 7950X3D does 63,000. The 5700X scored 29K.
I think it'll be awhile before prices on 80K speed will drop. That's fine with me. The 5950X combined with an Intel ARC A750 for co-processing is really nice. I run Tumbleweed so I get the Intel driver updates right away.
If you have something close to the 5700X it's a good upgrade and you'll be done. I'm going to sell the 5700X while it still has some value. The upgrade makes much more sense for me that way.
I don't know how many they made but keep in mind, it's income tax time and these will likely sell out. It sold out three times before I got mine at $330.
