Alot of people still utilize usb-a. It's still the most universal type of usb input. Type C is growing though.

While I generally agree, let others reading this be aware that there is no USB-C standard. It's the cable connector shape, so there are still compatibility issues between different USB-C devices. The standards are the numbered ones (USB 1, USB 2, USB 3, USB 4, etc.), and the connector types are the lettered ones (USB A is the rectangle, USB B is easily recognized as the one that goes in the back of many printers, and USB C is the skinny, goes-in-both-ways one). I'm not even going to try with the "mini" and "micro" connectors on here.

The preferred charging protocol is the one which is built in to the device. The only thing which you have correct is the added cost for Qualcomm controllers like Snapdragon SOC which are extremely popular in Android phones. When voltage is precisely adjusted in millivolt steps battery life is greatly extended. QC 5 is clearly superior to Power Delivery which is why PPS was added. Many users have experienced excessive heat and early battery failure with versions of Anker's Power IQ. With Anker today one is paying a premium price for inferior Anker chips. This deal offers $5 worth of technology for $30. It's likely fine for legacy devices designed for 5 volt input. Lack of durability is reflected in the reviews.
The device ultimately negotiates the charge rate, not the charger.

So if devices are getting damaged, it's the device manufacturer's fault.

Since there aren't any class action lawsuits happening over this, it's safe to say that you're making this up as you go along.

It's fine to have biases, but yours are just unfounded.

Also, I like how you edited your entire comment so it has nothing to do with what I was responding to.

I only edited the mention of licensed Qualcomm components. It's O.K. that you don't understand how USB charging technology has evolved. Use whatever you like. No lawyer is going to sue over shortened battery life from excessive heat which results from using power supplies that aren't precisely matched to the device. "Works with" and "Optimized for" are two different things.

Check out Logitech Gaming Mice. $150 price tag and Micro USB charging port. I can understand non tech industry lagging behind, but one of the biggest names in tech still using micro USB on their top tier products is just sad.

Weird that if you're only using one usb c port that it doesn't give the full 65W for it.

edit: Unacceptable specs for a 2024 USB ac adapter especially at this inflated price. Not because it has Type A ports but because all of them are limited to fixed 5 volts 2.4 amps and share a max load of a pitiful 20 watts.

Not compatible with Samsung Galaxy S10 is a red flag as is Anker's warning that connecting more than two phones will cause overload.

Most modern USB devices are designed to be charged from a USB Type A port which provides more than 5 volts. Even though the Galaxy S10 has a Type C port and can be charged with C-PD it is still optimized to be charged from Type A multi-voltage port Samsung AFC or QC. This is true for many devices still in use today and why they are supplied with C to A adapter cables.

Unless at least one Type A port is ( edit ) ( at least a multi-volt "QC compatible" port) then the power supply isn't worth more than $5. USB Type A wall adapters adapters in the $3-$10 range have multi-voltage capable "QC compatible" ports.

Anker did at one time address the pro-user market but now it seems to be packing charging circuits which cost them pennies in to pretty boxes with a nice form factor because that's what sells. .
They make both now. You just have to pay more if you want the higher wattage versions.

No, they will just whine about how "bad" this one is. I've never seen a competing product that is anywhere near this small.

Yes, bigger devices with better specs exist. But if you need something really small, this one is hard to beat. I've used one for years, it works great and charges everything including laptops just fine. It's a bit weak if you plan to run a laptop continuously at max power, but for charging and light use it's perfectly adequate.

USB-C 1.0 was 2014, so it's been around quite some time, and it's RAPIDLY become the universal connector.
This is ABSOLUTELY a fire sale on the old, outdated technology.

Amazon is recommending this similar charger instead. And to be honest, for once I think it's a better deal. Can someone point out what I'm overlooking?

- Same $30 cost after 10% coupon
- Same 65w PD USB-C
- Same number of USB-A ports
- Same GaN tech
- Two extra USB-C (20w + 30w)
- No need for Prime status to buy it
- Downside is an inferior brand name

As much as I would say get rid of all USB-A devices, this is useful for me.

I'm a dentist and my loupes I use have a usb-c rechargeable battery, but it must originate from a usb-a port. It's dumb to me, but I still require them

This is an excellent charger. I've had it for two years now, and I use it to charge my devices when I travel. I love how thin the devices and the fact that it's got four ports, one of which is usb-c I charge my MacBook Pro with overnight. While I agree that USB-C will eventually take over, most of the devices I charge during travel use USB-A (watch, headphone, iPhone). The device is utilizing GAN FET tech which makes the charger super thin and power efficient and easier to pack. Highly recommend!
