Available:About this title:
(383 pages) 1980, Pass Christian, Mississippi: It is three in the morning when Bobby Western zips the jacket of his wet suit and plunges from the Coast Guard tender into darkness. His dive light illuminates the sunken jet, nine bodies still buckled in their seats, hair floating, eyes devoid of speculation. Missing from the crash site are the pilot's flight bag, the plane's black box, and the tenth passenger. But how? A collateral witness to machinations that can only bring him harm, Western is shadowed in body and spirit—by men with badges; by the ghost of his father, inventor of the bomb that melted glass and flesh in Hiroshima; and by his sister, the love and ruin of his soul.

I'd save my $2! I love Mccarthy's other books but this one was too weird for me. Really hard to follow what was going on, seemed like a lot of rambling and I eventually gave up!

I'm having trouble just trying to follow the "About this book" in the OP. I'll take your advice here.

Bought it yesterday, but found it too weird as well, so gave up after 30 mins of reading.

3.9/5 rating on Amazon is pretty poor. I'll pass on this.

Oh wow, this is pretty new, published last August. Surprised it's $2 already. Worth it just because McCarthy passed last year.

I already had The Road, No Country for Old Men, and Blood Meridian. This was the last on I wanted on Kindle.

FWIW this book has a counterpart, also on sale at the moment (though slightly pricier) called Stella Maris:

$5 is the most I pay for Kindle stuff. $2-$3 normally. I can wait, but thanks

I never paid more than $3 for a McCarthy ebook. Somehow, I kept getting discounts for subsequent McCarthy books every time I bought one on Kindle. This was back during covid
