USB 2.0 only. Advertising current capacity as "3.2A" seems misleading. No mention of wire gauge.

Why. Phones have their own voltage regulators and current limiting. It's usually the charger or inferior equipment smokes.

Because there have been instances were the charger catches fire or explodes in your phone, damaging the charging port

This is not the charger. This is a cable. But you do you. Someone has to keep apple and Anker in business.

A crappy cable will not harm your device. A crappy charger (i..e the thing that plugs into the wall) can. That said, I wouldn't buy noname cables for anything that I'll be plugging and unplugging a lot, since they tend to break fairly easily. Stick with a name brand like Monoprice or Anker, or even Amazon basics if you must (all of which, it must be said, are also made in China).

No. You must be a Gen z and don't understand nomenclature. A charger is the device you plug into the electrical outlet that converts ac into DC and handles the actual charging. The cable is the wire that connects the phone or device into the charger. The cable cannot be connected directly into the electrical outlet nor can it charge the phone by itself. There are outlets that have built in chargers with USB ports but that doesn't change the function of the cable.

I have used dollar store usb cables for over 10 years and never have had a damaged device. If a cable fails, it just won't work, but it's never damaged any devices.

lol buddy I bet I'm older than you… that being said, your experience of "never have had a damaged device" doesn't mean it doesn't happen. It's time for you to move on young man, you are a walking case of "it's not true if it doesn't happen to me"
