For the uninformed. I work in IT in healthcare. The test are not going to stop you from getting COVID, they will let you know you have COVID. What you choose to do with this information is up to you and, let's face it, your employer. For us it means working from home for at least the day (for a non-positive result) or working from home for at least the week (for a positive result). We care about our coworkers and have the ability to protect them from getting sick. Which in turn protects them from spreading it to their families and patients.
We are lucky enough to have an employeer that cares about spreading disease and are lucky enough to have the ability to work from home. One of my coworkers is currently working from home because he is sick and I appreciate him for it.

I've been on SD for ages and I never get why people feel the need to argue about stuff like this. If you don't want the test, think it's stupid, whatever, don't sign up for it then. If you want it, great, get it.

tl;dr - chill out with the fighting

If you have a certain Kaiser plan, they give you home test for free. Its 4 boxes of 2pk max a month per person.

Unfortunately with CDC new guidelines, employees and schools are now at the "common cold" mentality with covid.

I have boatloads of these. No one in our house has had covid. A couple of times my wife wasn't feeling good I had her test. Always came back negative, so we would try another test a day later.
We are up to date on all shots and always mask. I work in a hospital, so I am around it all the time, but never quit masking.

I thought I had ordered before already but thought I would try anyway. Based on other comments, it took only about 20 seconds to autofill and complete the form. Once I submitted the order for 4 tests, the next screen showed a confirmation number and underneath it said "this address is eligible for another order". Submitted another order for 4 and it went though just as quick.

not sure why Slickdeals doesn't just start locking specific threads from comments. the deal itself is fairly straightforward. the limited info needed to be gained via comments does not outweigh the ridiculousness that will overtake such a thread.
100%, however these ridiculous threads get a ton of views, which translates to ad revenue, which is really all that matters to the business side of SD.

At a time when the cost of living has gone up, I am happy to accept this handout without remorse since I've been paying taxes for 28 years and still going. It is nice to get something in return.

We do lock threads sometimes, but it is our policy to keep open the ones that have successfully made it to the Front Page.
We all collectively prefer threads that we don't need to keep a constant watch over for trolling and fighting.

When you're sick stay home, doesn't matter if it's Covid, flue, a cold, whatever. No need to test. I hope if you still use these tests you don't go out when you're sick but test negative for Covid….
I know of a workplace that offers paid sick leave for COVID-19 but not flu. No idea why.
Anyhow, they require a test at a doc office, home test isn't enough. But a home test does tell one if it's worth dragging to a doctor to get a note.
