Ryobi batteries are not in the same league as ego batteries…. Ego batteries have patented wrapping around each cell that keep them cool and provide spacing along with the ARC design which means no middle cells on most of them. Last the electronics/boards are at the end of exposed to air to keep cool.

Ryobi batteries the batteries are packed tight against one another plus the electronics boqrds are sandwiched between battery and tool;

All that being said older Ryobi batteries and the 7.5ah or higher packs use Sony or lg cells others like these 4.0 use Chinese cells:

There's an argument that no electric equipment is "pro level", which might explain why hardly any yard service companies use it.

I've also got no experience with Ego or Greenworks, as I own Ryobi. I'm just going on what online opinions suggest. I'm very happy with my Ryobi 40v products, especially the blower which I use several times per week. Drives me crazy that yard service companies are still using 2-stroke backpack blowers because they are so noisy and require so much more effort to maintain.

That said, if I was just starting out, I'd 100% decide on a 40v ecosystem and go with it. If one of my motors happens to die extremely early I'll have to make a snap decision but that's pretty unlikely, quality small motor tools run for a lonnng time. (My moms backpack blower just cracked 24yrs, and my lawn mower is something like 30yrs old.)
