Mulled it over while I was eating lunch for the last hour. Came back to purchase it and no price showing on the website and won't let you add it to cart. Crap. Good deal on batteries alone. Shouldn't have thought so hard about it.

I'm just a home user but I'm sticking with 2-stroke/4-stroke for a few more years because it's so easy to maintain (it needs extremely little maintenance), and I want to see what comes down the pipe battery wise before I buy into a 40v+ ecosystem.

That said, if I was just starting out, I'd 100% decide on a 40v ecosystem and go with it.
My electric stuff requires no maintenance at all. No trips to the gas station, no buying 2-stroke oil, no measuring the oil and mixing, no carb cleaning, no winterization, no tuning... small gas engines are super reliable, but so are electric motors.

Makes sense to keep equipment already paid for, but there's no way I'd buy gas stuff if I was starting from scratch, or replacing worn out equipment.

I've got a 40v Ryobi saw, and there's no way I'd go back to a 2-stroke. You can run it all day if you've got 3 batteries and 2 chargers. It's quiet. It doesn't idle. It doesn't die if the idle is set too low. It doesn't spin the blade if the idle is set too high. It requires no tuning.

There's an argument that no electric equipment is "pro level", which might explain why hardly any yard service companies use it.

I've also got no experience with Ego or Greenworks, as I own Ryobi. I'm just going on what online opinions suggest. I'm very happy with my Ryobi 40v products, especially the blower which I use several times per week. Drives me crazy that yard service companies are still using 2-stroke backpack blowers because they are so noisy and require so much more effort to maintain.
Greenworks always finds a way to disappoint me. I'm on their 40v platform. To date I've owned a weed whacker, 2 lawn mowers (at different times), snow shovel, and hedge trimmer. The lawn mower is the only thing I'd buy again if given the chance. All of their others perform poorly, at way heavier than they need to be, or just seem to be overpriced. No way I'd say the quality is pro level, even if they stepped up their game 2 or 3 levels.
