how am i supposed to know if it's actually a good deal or a good seller if every deal is a paid advertisement?

Crandall is legit. I bought a HM Aeron from them a couple years back.

This discount is pretty typical for them though - decent price if you're in need of a quality chair, but not really 'buy now think later' pricing.

What makes that one so special that it's $900 (on sale)? I'm genuinely curious. I've seen similar ones for a small fraction of the price.

Yep, either knockoffs or refurbished units. The better approach for those wanting a discounted HM or Steelcase chair is to search for a local office furniture liquidator. You can get a used, good condition chair for a fraction of retail.

Crandall is awesome. Personally purchased my WFH chair there. Great support. Helped me in set up and with some other questions that crept up. They offer parts for what they sell.

If will buy from them again without concern.

A great chair is adjustable, comfortable, durable AND can be fixed.

Cheap knock offs may not have those features.

For me, if I'm sitting on it for 8 hours a day and I have a choice, I want best I can afford.

I don't know that brand from my research from the past. I know 2 brands, Herman Miller & Steel Case, I spent hours researching before settled on Steel Case Leavp V2 and Herman Miller Aron Remastered. I bought them both refurbished/used from Ebay. Yes, they're pricey but they're so comfortable and my back pain is no longer an issue with those 2 chairs. I used to buy knockoffs from Amazon with similar looks, thinking they're just chairs right? why spent $600 plus on one? boy, was i wrong, I developed terrible back pain from sitting on those cheap chairs. Don't cheap out if you sit on it 5-6 hours a day.

I agree that "promoted" deals partly defeat the purpose of SD but unsure how to argue with the reality that every site must make money to merely exist.

Crandall is very reputable, like BTOD they clean and refurbish these chairs completely even put new foam in. My personal recommendation is the Leap.
