That's not the bad part. (Although it is on the heavier side). It's that the 330W charger included is 3lbs and there is no support for USB-PD so you'll have to carry around nearly 10lbs.
Decent machine if you don't get any quality issues from Dell, but there's a reason this has an "advertiser disclosure" compared to the 4060 models posted last week at the same price.
It's not competitive since you can get a 4060 Legion for $50 more. It has a larger 1TB SSD and 1440p screen. However, it has a last gen cpu and weighs far less at the expense of some battery life.

I have this laptop, had it for about 6 months now and it's been great. I will agree, the charger is kind of heavy, but I ended up getting a 240 watt charger and seems like the laptop doesn't mind running on 240 watts. 330 watts is a little overkill for this config.
Just get a 240 watt charger to lighten the load.
I don't think that's a great solution for most people. I have had the older model of this (almost identical design) G15 5515 and that came standard with the 240W adapter.
If you buy it separately it's at least $50 and at that point you might as well just get the Legion and get a nicer screen, more storage and way better GPU.
As you know, the 240W is still large and heavy, just somewhat thinner in terms of height. Either way, I'd recommend waiting for the 4060 G15 to come back on sale since 4050s go for $800 all the time.

I used to be a huge Dell fan, but lately their customer service is horrible and these Gx budget gaming machines have always be bulky, hot, and have just slightly above average build quality. My G5 5590 is blazing hot, even after repasting. It had dead pixels on delivery and resisted a replacement until I reminded them that I can just return it and they would not get any of my money. About 1 year and 2 months, just after the warranty period, another 12 dead pixels appeared.
The computer also doesn't allow power delivery, so I have to lug a 180W power supply, and it's like 9 lbs combined. I started just carrying a Surface Pro when I travel instead. The only reason to have a portable gaming laptop is to be able to take it places, at these weights, it's just a desktop gaming machine that happens to be slightly portable. The tradeoff of a flaming hot chassis means it's no fun to use when you're not gaming.
So I agree with everything you said and have experienced it first hand. The laptop is "fine" but I wouldn't buy again, or recommend buying this line/series again.

If you can get the email 10% off with the AMEX offer for $120 off $599+ so after promotion and statement credit it would be $599. Is it worthwhile then? I'm trying to find a gaming laptop that doesn't need to be anything crazy but will have at least some staying/lasting power. I get to game at work about 2 days a week since all I'm doing is supervising a gym so I can just catch up on old games I've been neglecting. I could see myself playing like homeworld 3 (not really neglecting since just came out), baulders gate 3, maybe random survival games like the forest and such.

Can you help me out by linking me to the $100 more 4060?
It's the same link just choose the 4060 option
