That's not a low price for ABS?

When the gate agent makes you check your carry-on at the gate (which happens frequently now due to ever-increasing checked baggage fees) and your suitcase comes off of the plane cracked (which has happened to me) you will understand.

Ouch, no wonder. Southwest hasn't let me down yet. Fingers crossed.
Because some carryons will inevitably be required to be checked in for some of us travelers. This happened to us on multiple occasions. We can all agree that checked in baggage isn't treated well and gets thrown around and dropped. Therefore, if you feel you'll never be "forced" or "voluntold" to check in a carryon, then by all means, buy ABS. I've seen PC deals for not much more than ABS, so personally I pass on ABS.
lol - all dented up … I want to see aluminum suitcases after literally 1 use !
If you mean the briefcases of the 80's or cases for musical instruments that have aluminum finishes … most of the internals are wood and molded foam.
I look for nothing less now--piano hinge, rubber gasket, and clamps or I don't even bother looking further.
