I got mine for $140 during the Walmart deal. I like it, but it's heavy, and the suction housing that lives on top of the brush rollers is very difficult to clean if you get a lot of carpet fibers or pet hair into it.

That said, the heated drying function is solid, and the carpet cleaner doesn't seem to overuse water. I think I like it, but I've never used a Big Green, so I have no good frame of reference for how good it is at actually cleaning, but it seems to pull a lot of dirt out of even freshly vacuumed rugs.

I just ran the vacuum today and it goes comparably to any other deep cleaner when you leave it on auto mode. On max mode you have to refill 4 times to cover a 2 bedroom apartment, but it's plenty good enough on auto mode if you don't want to do that. Also, refilling is really easy, it takes 30 seconds round trip. This vacuum seems to have been designed for regular use. If it had a bigger water tank, the whole thing would be bulkier and harder to use, move around, store….what's the point if that reduces your cleaning frequency?

As for deep stains, any vacuum on the market requires manual pre-cleaning and pre-treatment with Shout and/or other solutions aimed at stain removal.

I have Tineco and Bissel ProHeat II Evo. I think these were the only 2 home vacuum you should consider.
Hands down Bissell cleans better. But it takes 12 hours plus to dry, sometimes longer. It completely soaks the carpet.
This one dries in 2 hours. It only wet the top 0.5 to 1 inch of the carpet. I find myself reaching for this 9 out of 10 times. The only time I know I am heading for Bissell is when my 80lbs puppy pees in the carpet.

Legitimate question, what makes this better than a Hoover or Bissell? Mine just died and I need to buy a new one.

It's not a Hoover or Bissell.
