Of course I liked it better when it was on sale for $48 Smilie but this is the lowest price I've seen on it for a while... it got recommendations and good reviews from various websites back in it's time for being a reliable quality ssd (2.5 form factor) drive although there's been some controversy about the newer versions of it having problems with the firmware..

... on the other hand I've purchased (thinks) .. going off memory maybe two or three of the newer (firmware wise that is) that I've been using for several months now with no problems... I've purchased .. going off memory here I think maybe nine or ten of them of various sizes (from 250 GB to 1 TB, 1 TB more often than not ) and installed them in various desktop and laptops and have not had problems with any of them.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078211KBB

if that link doesn't work you can search on amazon by the model number, CT1000MX500SSD1

some reviews from way back when the drive was first introduced I believe

I've had two of these die on me with very little use. They were both from the same batch so could have just been that batch being bad.
PC market is slowing. They had to slow production out of Taiwan b/c they had too many. The price rose because of the slowing of supply but the price is coming down still b/c of demand. People are not buying PC in droves like the were in 2020-2021. PC are considered durable and not a product that gets replaced every 3 years.
Should be $35. PC industry is getting stagnant

That's pointless... But why should it be $35?
Some people won't but it at any price point. They will even want some money with if the product is free

Great price for a quality SSD with DRAM even if it was the 500GB version. 1TB is a great deal compared to the prices that we've been seeing lately. All the $35 ones just use the cheaper SLC cache.

Maybe, i had this for my Macbook time machine backup and it failed in just 2-3 months. i got it replaced by Crucial but used the replacement in another laptop instead. using a WD Black now for time machine without issues for 1 year already. i do not trust crucial as much now.... but would still buy for the right price.

For those of you bashing this one, just know my Samsung EVO died after a year and a half as well. Sometimes I miss IDE Frown

i beg to differ. PC market is booming and I see many enthusiasts building a new PC first time in 5-10 years. The reason is AI/ML craze and even if not everyone is capable to train models , diffusion is something that most could do. Servers/workstations for AI/ML need a smallish SSD for OS/apps and HDD's for actual training/data.Hence the reason SSD/ECC memory/server CPU's/ Mobo's with lots of PCI's is spiking up in price.

I wouldn't call it "booming". Unless you're referring to a specific segment, overall PC sales are down compared to the COVID (2020/21) boom. Some hardware (GPU sales) are up over last year, but still not higher than COVID.

I have a 500GB Crucial drive that's still going today (got it in like 2018 or something), but it's in a fairly low-use laptop for the kids.

I use this drive for video editing and it's where my proxy cache goes to with davinci resolve. I tested if there was gonna be a bottleneck by doing the same test on an nvme drive and the max write speed never got above 400-500mbps which this drive had no problem doing.

Been working fine for 4 years now
