GameStop is offering GameStop Pro Members: Trade-In a PlayStation 5 Console (Disc) for $385 in GameStop Store Credit.

Additionally, GameStop is selling the PlayStation 5 Slim Console w/ Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Bundle for $449.99. Trading in an original PlayStation 5 for store credit and then using the credit to purchase the PS5 Slim bundle means it costs a net ~$65 + tax to upgrade an original PS5 disc console to a PS5 Slim with Spider-Man.

Unfortunately there is no stock in stores of this console to take advantage of the $25 off purchases greater than $250 for online pickups. However if you want to get Modern Warfare III instead they do offer that bundle for pickup for $499.99 ($474.99) after credit.

I did this trade in a few days ago. The slim PS5 is really loud compared to the original. You can Google this. I'm definitely disappointed in that regard.

This just seems like a complete waste of time and resources. My launch PS5 runs great.

I agree that it's not a bad deal if you consider it as a paid warranty extension. However the PS5 Pro is rumored to come out later this year so it might make more sense to wait for that IMHO.

In terms of making your money back via selling the code, people should be aware there are A LOT of digital copies of Spiderman 2 on the market so you won't be making anywhere near $65 unless you you find someone clueless.

Also... Not to throw shade but, a properly functioning PS5 (even the launch model) should never sound like an airplane taking off (even for intense games) unless it's been seriously neglected in terms of cleaning... (or you've just never experienced the PS4 or a gaming PC.)

Terrible company with poor service. Increasing prices during sales on all old titles now. Don't maintain a membership imo. They're buying your disk version because they will sell it for $500+ as people realize they're better than digital. , can't own their games or trade them, and the bluray drive is worth $50+ just for it's use.

My original PS5 did not do this to the extent the slim does this, and I'm sure this isn't a defect with my slim, based on the ton of other reports.

When I traded mine in yesterday, the website said $385. But I got $410 in store.

Just did this. NY and/or Nassau county charges tax on the original amount apparently which sucks but whatever. Came out to 51 with tax. Didn't have any monthly $5 to apply or it would've been $45. Was going to buy Spider-Man anyway so why not

My PS5 has been collecting dust since I finished God of War. Probably should get rid of it while it's still worth something. Will they let me get Steam gift cards? I know sometimes stores are weird about buying CG with credit

Thanks for your reply! Same happened to me earlier today. Website said $385, in-store was $410 after buying the Gamestop membership thing.

Slim Spidey bundle was $425 after the in-store $25 off, about $455 after tax. After trading in my GoW PS5 bundle and my physical Spidey 2 copy, total cost was next to nothing. If anyone happens to already be a GameStop member, they'd be making money by doing this.

The extra storage, new warranty, new controller, and slimmer console were enough to make me go do the swap. But for anyone on the fence- the Slim is a bit louder than the OG.

GameStop usually misses big time. But this deal was actually legit. I traded in my day 1 launch day PS5 disc version which I accidentally dropped once while traveling with it. Its a behemoth tbh. Still worked like a charm but the disc drive was noisy. GameStop took it at full credit with my pro membership which ended up being $410 with an additional $25 being added on top of the ten percent trade in boost (another promotion they are running). Slim disc PS5 is at $425 right now at GS. So I paid like $40 out the door for a brand new console with the game. Huge W.
