This deal has been around for about a week now. I saw it when they first listed on eBay. I was tempting to buy but considering 35k (4yrs) of power on hours and only backed by one year of warranty I rather pay a bit more than dealing with the risk. Good luck.

Isn't 35k POH a lot?

For a consumer drive, yes. For an enterprise drive, no. Consumer drives have 1-3 year warranties, typically, due to that reason, whereas enterprise drives typically have a 10 year warranty. That said, and echoing @Ad0nis, I prefer the vendor "goharddrive" for 2 reasons: they do not have a history of wiping SMART data during refurbishment, and they include 3 or 5 year warranties on their drives. Personal experience with 6 drives from them has been stellar, including swift, no questions asked, replacement when needed.

1 year warranty vs goharddrive 3 year warranty but significantly cheaper per TB. In for 4 since I had been waiting for a deal like this for my secondary backup storage.

My goal is not to pare your comment down to three words (as you have shared some valuable details alongside this), but I am curious - even most HDD's I obtain professionally have 5 year warranties (WD DC drives, Seagate Exos, etc). I've never come across a datacenter/enterprise hard drive with a 10 year warranty...what company have you been working with?

I've bought many refurbished/recertified drives from Server Parts Deals over the last couple of years.

None of the drives I have bought have failed. All are still running in one of two unRAID servers. Happy as clams.

Yeah, no disrespect to the other person but I think they're mistaken. Enterprise gear generally has a 3-5yr warranty, like you said, vs 1-3yr for consumer stuff. I've never seen a 10yr warranty on anything enterprise without several extensions or third party warranties.

Yeah, sorry, but that was nonsense and you're right. I'm not aware of a single manufacturer that offers a 10 year warranty on spindles. SSDs, sure.

Many "enterprise" drives (HPE) only have 3-year warranties.

These drives originally shipped with a 5-year warranty from Seagate.
