The quality of Anker is going down, but the price is going up. I was an Anker's fan, but not anymore
It's portable because you can unplug it and plug it back in somewhere else.

I would too in the pre-PD wild west, but this is commodity hardware for a solved problem. There are over a dozen similar power strips on Amazon, all rated well. This one feels properly heatsinked and immediately negotiated the maximum charging rate with my MBP. If I had to quibble, I'd say the cable insulation is probably stiffer than Anker's. Otherwise it's a peach.

I'm against Anker after one of my strips from them transformed at the plug end from white to brown, indicating high heat/burn damage. It was never subject to any heavy loads and merely had stuff like 65W type c chargers plugged into it.

Have to agree, the hype on them is a bit too much. Used to have pretty good customer service so I could forgive them when ports would just suddenly die in their chargers, they'd quickly replace with a smile. But in past years I've found them very strict and "too bad, your problem" attitude when their products fail.

I have this thing - it's a nice near the couch extension cord. Not bad when you consider the price you'd pay for a charger with some distance. At a discount I'd recommend it, at normal price it's just okay.

Instead of buying these portable power strips, here's an idea:
- buy a regular extension cord with 3 outlets on the end. Buy a fancier one with fabric covering on the cord if you like.
- use whatever small, foldable, GaN, etc, etc power adapters you like with this outlet.
- you now have the flexibility to make your own combo of power outlets, use whatever power adapters you need, and then also just use the cable as a regular extension cord if you like.
- and if a cable is damaged or adapter dies, just swap that part out itself.
