I have a family account but did most of my work on a member account. It filled up past the 1TB and MS told me i can't add more space to a member of a family plan! Only to the primary account. So they advised unlinking from the family and pay for individual account plus $2 per month for the extra space i needed.
Now i need to keep this a an individual account for one year as that's when my family account expires and i can change my individual to be primary on a family account and move what was the family account and its members over to my new primary.
Very complicated. I'm not sure if i should by 5 of these and stack them on the individual that i plan to be the new primary family account a year from now. Or can i wait a year just in case things don't work out as expected so as to have options for my other accounts.
Has anyone else had to deal with this?
Confirmed working to extend both services.
The key did allow a year of personal (I did not get the blank white screen), but there was no mention of my existing family plan (managed by Amazon, which I cancelled, expiring July), nor any 9 month option.
So if I click "ok" to activate the key, do I end up with a separate personal sub _plus the existing family sub, or the family is gone and sub is good till July 2025? (Then pay a month to convert back to family).
Summary: I don't want a separate 1-year personal 365 while I have a family plan. If Microsoft doesn't allow this (two separate 365 plans), then I'll redeem the code in hopes it applies to the existing family plan in some way. Thanks.
you never heard of them before really? Yes of course.

i mean, they are personal code that goes out to physical retail box. those sometime don't sell for year (that's how I got my first few code).

you either are manager of a personal, or a manager of a family. If you are "managed by amazon" than you'll need to wait until it expires before you can use this.
