I love my EB down…I refer to it as "I can afford thatagonia"

Then I can donate $10 to Access Fund or Sierra Club and everyone comes out ahead.

Respectfully, it is not all hype. Recycled polyester uses roughly 33-53% less energy and uses an already created material, not simply injecting more plastic into the world. Plastic may be here for the long haul, but that doesn't mean we should turn a blind eye to its impacts...if we feel so inclined. There is lots of research on how this lessens the environmental impacts, and of course to each his own, but to call recycled polyester a marketing hype or gimmick is simply false.

Nice jacket. Got it a few weeks ago for $44, but with free shipping. Not sure why they now have a $75 minimum to qualify for free shipping now.

Error: This promo code is not applicable here.?? I think I had a blank space at the end. Works now. Weird though, I'm an EB rewars member and it still wants to charge $10 shipping.

Not sure, following to see responses. One key difference with Patagonia is they are made with 100% (or close to it) recycled materials and created in the most sustainable way possible. The quality may be equal on this jacket, but it likely won't have the sustainability piece patagonia products have.

Isn't Eddie Bauer part of the Columbia brand?
In that case Patagonia would be a level up in most cases and cost more😬

EB is owned by Authentic Brands Group these days (technically SPARC, but basically same thing) which owns a bunch of mall/department store brands like Aeropostale, Billabong, Izod, Reebok, etc.

I think you're thinking of Mountain Hardwear? MH is above EB in terms of quality in my experience, can't speak about every item though.

Eddie Bauer, from their website, seems to be a pioneer in cold weather jackets with first jacket for Himalayan expedition, and many other things.

Is Mountain hardware better?

I mean plastics are destroying the world as it is whether we recycle them or not. Recycled plastics do not have the same integrity as virgin, it's just marketing hype for environmentally conscious people.

If the "premium down insulation" is made from Grey Goose feathers, it will produce an unbearable smell. I have one that I don't want to wear anymore nor I can throw/donate it out because of the price I paid at the time.

Pioneering is one thing, being effective is another. Don't get me wrong, EB makes quality products, but not necessarily the best. Case in point, I'm from Phila, PA, and if you want a pioneering cheesesteak, you will go to Pat's, only to find it is undersized and overpriced, and there are plenty of places that can make the same for less, and bigger serving size. In the case of this offer, if you just need it for regular urban/suburban wear, I'm sure it will do just fine, and then some. If you need it for an expedition, you should look elsewhere
