Limited time deal. Amazon Prime ships free. 8GB / 512 SSD. This is the Intel version - not M1. Works for me given the additional monitor support and added ports. Closer to $1,000 new in 2020. Lowest price I've seen new with Apple Care.

While this is not for everyone, it does well for my needs. Looking to transition away from the old clunky windows desktop and into an Apple mini footprint - one that will support a 3 monitor setup for a non-power user. Mostly bookkeeping, web research and cataloging old photos. I was unable to find an alternative anywhere near this price with comparable or better specs - outside of the potentially-sketchy used marketplace. So I'm very happy to have found this new machine with the security of Amazon & 1 year of Apple Care.

Except you can get An M1/M2 for less than $100 more- so its a terrible deal on an outdated platform- NO-one should buy this

YMMV, but I have a Mac mini with an i7 chip and also have a newer mini with the M1. The M1 runs circles around the older i7…dunno why so much faster, but it is what it is…

Unfortunately the M1/M2 won't allow 3 monitors anywhere near this price. And for my uses the speed difference won't be noticeable.

Curious if you notice the M1 running circles vs the i7 if you're just surfing in safari and opening small docs and sheets files? I'm not a gamer and I won't be using it to stream, etc…

that is true but 8gb is woeful for an intel mac and intel mac is a dead platform

You could upgrade the RAM in this one for cheap but I'd still avoid. Maybe at $100, it would be a good Plex server.

8th gen intel is ancient. The current i3 would smoke both the i5/i7 Mac Mini. M1/M2 would even further the gap. Even on casual browsing, you would notice a difference.

the bigger question is why you need 3 monitors and not 2 for the uses you describe? i have 2 x 34 inch widescreen monitors and I do spreadsheets (multiple) , web , slack, calender and more windows on two monitors. you are optimizing for 3 monitors when you dont need to is my guess and going for a 4 year old inferior intel mac

In my defense, my objective is to move away from my current 10 year old windows tower-based config and into a more powerful, cleaner, easier iOS machine with a mini footprint. My budget is $400 and I don't use the machine to game or stream.

For me, this is a slickdeal on a new / warranted machine selling for $1,000 less than 4 years ago that checks all my boxes. Yes, if I had another $200-$300 for the M1 or M2 with a half a gig SSD that was compatible with my other hardware, that would be preferred.

I didn't expect all this negativity when sharing what worked well for me in the hopes it may help others in this unique situation. In hindsight, it's clear this isn't the correct forum to do that.

dont take it personally. But posting a 4 year old obsolete computer claiming it was $1000+ 4 years ago isnt a slickdeal. You would be better off taking the advice of the slickdelaers and not being so defensive. It truly is a horrible deal

Don't cry, taking constructive criticism makes you a better person. Deal not slick enough.
