Amazing game and good deal if you've never played through it. I 100%'d it on PS4 so I'm waiting for the $5 range to double dip on PC.
Amazing games. If you've never played them, I can't recommend them enough.
I'm kinda confused by your statement. How would the release of Princess Peach which should have zero player overlap with this game matter at all? Not to mention Dragon's Dogma is nothing like either Horizon games, other than fitting into the wildy generic scope of 'open world RPG' but that's about it. I admittedly know nothing about Rise of the Ronin but looking at photos it also appears to also stray pretty far from the Horizon Zero (whatever) formula thus should not detract that many buyers.

Even if all these games were identical in terms of gameplay there is always something else major releasing so even that side of your statement makes little sense. Game companies aren't going to hold on to games for a decade waiting for a lull from other studios. They tend to launch major games (like Horizon) to coincide with other major launches, such as new consoles / versions or times of the year like Christmas or BF....like every other publisher.

Glad they've been releasing these on PC. Played the first on PS4 and loved it but haven't bought a PS5 and probably won't plan on it since all the games eventually release on PC now and I have a huge backlog of games so I can always wait

First "pre-order" in literally 12 years(last was Torchlight 2). I was thinking of getting it for PS4 but when they announced that no DLC, I figured I'd just wait for the PC release. Can't justify a PS5 for one game.

Pretty terrible timing of release. Dragon's Dogma and to a lesser extent Rise of the Ronin and Princess Peach all coming out at once.

First one was pretty incredible for me, second one I got kind of bored with although it had it's moments. Maybe I'm just burned out on games.

Finished HFW on PS5 last month. I enjoyed it VERY much. Compare to other games I enjoyed on ps5 such as GoW: Ragnarok and witcher 3,

The graphic on 120 FPS, simply gorgeous
Immersive story, even for someone who didnt play the first one,
They got proper actors/actresses for voices! They gripped me with their character development and the game's EPIC storyline. Trinity from the matrix played a part too.
Fast travel system was the most convenient without feeling like cheating. Made the grind for the weapon upgrades bearable.
Coming back to the epic storyline, seeing the old destroyed Las Vegas and SF….. and completing the related quests to LV…. Speechless.

Cons:
The battle system, might improve w keyboard and mouse, became tedious. I should just git gud, but I am not, with controls and ended up playing like a sniper most of the time, entirely abandoning melees and traps.
With all the side quests completed, the final battle was a little bit anticlimatic.
I didn't care for the relics (they are like puzzles, or shrines for Zelda BOTW). Very simple, one dimensional.

You won't regret playing this.

That is really odd logic to indicate terrible timing.

The real problem is releasing a game like this before Easter and the eclipse. They are screwed.

Got it on PC. Could not get into it. Did not see the appeal. Felt like it was very formulaic. Could not complete more than a couple of hours.

My review:
Horizon Zero Dawn is one of my all time favorites. The story and world are incredible, it feels like it could easily have been a great book/movie. The DLC was solid, too. - 9/10

Forbidden West was a huge leap forward on all the technical aspects (visuals, combat mechanics, etc), but I felt the story didn't match up to the original and sometimes the main quests felt formulaic. I haven't played the DLC - 7/10

Understandable. Not every game will appeal to everyone.
